Finally made it to Burger Schmurger today for lunch. Got there right around noon (they’ve expanded hours to add to lunch Friday-Sunday). Was told 1 hour wait that turned out to be only a little over 30 minutes.
Sat on the patio. Despite heat and humidity their fans kept us quite comfortable. The food was wonderful. Burger was excellent. Smaller in size than Maple & Motor and Rodeo Goat. More like the burgers at the original Offsite Kitchen. I wasn’t a huge fan of the onion strings or the fries (I didn’t care for the spice used on the fries which probably included paprika and cumin rather than just salt). But the dipping sauces were really tasty. Liked the spicy aioli and dill ranch sauces best.
Service was slow but friendly, and drinks were refilled properly. Owner came by to talk to us when the food arrived to explain the sauces and added a nice personal touch.
I don’t understand why they chose to put a pool table in the middle of the dining room. They could add a half dozen tables there to reduce wait times. Plus they have no seating for those waiting which seems like a major fail.
They are going to need to figure that out or in the long run I’m afraid they will start to end up with more empty tables than people waiting in line.
In all, we will be back. One of the investor owners is friends with my daughter and I want to support local businesses regardless of any personal connections. I really hope they figure out the service/wait stuff to become more efficient to keep customers happy and returning.
Buddy of mine has a place on Peconic Bay (GoLL knows him) They have their own oyster nursery in Shinnecock Bay. We went there one day last summer and brought back a couple dozen fresh from the water and shucked them on the back deck. Heaven.
Well, she may be spewing bullshit or the recently unsealed federal indictment against him might be well founded. That's the whole point of following due process.
