  1. With everything being above board, isn't transparency part of the resolution in that now we can see exactly the worth of a player and their compensation, with receipts? That doesn't sound broken. So Congress or whatever governing body can now look at the actual books and see compliance. WTF are we even discussing now? How can anybody express interest in a former shady system where everybody can point to bagmen, agents, unaccounted for cars and homes--that was still unequal? There's nothing to see here, it's not going back and there's a slew of prospective athletes and families that agree. The only return will be in a few years when the spending is bankrupting departments/universities, which will happen. And that's fine, it'll evolve into something else.
  2. What do we need in Arkansas? What are they gatekeepers to--mediocrity? It's a rivalry to nowhere. Texas is aiming higher, by scheduling tOSU, Georgia and Bama for their hardware and recruits.
  3. Colbert doesn’t make it through August before they just pay him out and cancel him entirely. OGs of cancel culture gotta cancel since he’s blasting them daily, effectively shorting the tribute money they just paid. Colbert is bringing more eyes and relevance to his show now that it’s on notice.

I really didn’t want to love Manuel Antonio but A. Get a guide B. Don’t rush—when the guide leaves, circle back and walk through again. There’s a lot to see again or was missed the first time. C. I absolutely love Manuel Antonio D. Corcovado is pretty bad ass. The sound of spider monkeys is something creepy, in addition to howlers. I miss those sounds the most. Edit: these pics are from my phone and the guides scope but I still need to parse through what I took with my camera
  5. Plus, it’s not like Sark has developed rb’s (or other players) that got drafted.
  6. The best part is that when Venables leaves/canned, that cabinet will be either picked clean by the likes of UCF, or totally burned to the ground.
  7. He’s a shock jock that sells outrage, like Stephen a smith. His takes only need to go against the grain for them to be “hot” takes. If you gambled on his takes you’d be looking for your next park bench for the evening. He wouldn’t gamble on his takes. He’s for entertainment purposes only—to get people riled up and be insufferable.
  8. Kinda looks like she’s blowing glass.

I’m insanely jealous of you and midtown’s costa rica/latin American excursions. I sincerely dig this place. The locals no matter how awful they may look, are super friendly and the towns seem to know everybody around within a several town vicinity. edit: I didn’t understand it because I hadn’t been. I could see myself living here.

A good cafe we stopped at in Quepos was Emilio’s cafe. Great views and food and drinks. Most of our recommendations came from a local surfer running one of the places we stayed at. View from Emilio’s:
  11. When is ketch not flat footed? It’s been a hella long time since his feet had arches, not that he could see them. I’d be surprised if he still had toes.

In Dominical , a good restaurant is La Parcela. They have a mean chicken parm and great mixed drinks. These are the views from the restaurant (both sides face the ocean) and trail by the restaurant: Third from the top in tree nearest the horizon are a bunch of pelicans which may have nests in the trees.

I did not need a 4x4 anywhere, including Drake Bay. Just slow down and navigate around the potholes and screw everybody trying to race. I did get a midsize with good clearance.

Enjoying Costa Rica —from Corcovado today.
  15. Nah. Kids crave attention, and don’t give them any. Texas will be fine. Besides, why is a kid still disparaging a team they chose not to be part of? Move on already.
  16. Right, have their recruits inked anything? If not, then there's a season still for them to see what aggy development looks like.
  17. I don't know his thoughts on anything to know his IQ, other than he's a high school kid getting a lot of money thrown at him, but don't discount handlers--family and agents. Edit: NM, was already solidly stated upthread.
  18. Except unlike the ACC, the big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark had plenty to say about Texas, and openly rooted for tech against Texas. Fuck that conference.
  19. Playing for Tech would be disappointing. Losing blows, and getting injured for a team that sucks while getting paid is fine for some. I don't know what Tech's depth is like--may be able to promise starting time or a shorter wait to see the field. Don't know, don't care. What we do know is that Tech won't be playing for anything, and plays in a conference that won't be fielding anybody playing for anything. But if being part of a winning culture and demonstrable development is something that matters, then there's a transfer portal available. So it goes.
  20. But what do his thumbs look like?
  21. NM--see tax/trade policy.
  22. Excite how, like take away their loan repayment teaching programs, reinstate predatory loans for those that paid off the principle several times over, reduce financial aid and grants, destroy universities and programs that rely on research, which in turn reduces the need for researchers, doctors and scientists? What more convincing can students and the young possibly need? Ah, I know, we need yet another global epidemic and this time, only have the clowns in charge.
  23. They built a reliable power structure and stopped working for the middle class. Happens, especially when the leadership is no longer middle class but benefits from tax cuts and deregulation--Congresscritters have insider trading, so it affects them less if at all. Vote people with skin in the game and vote out careerists. Absolute power corrupts absolutely, and knowing you've been on top becomes an expectation, rather than a lunchpail mentality.
