  1. Man… I haven’t felt that gutted after an episode of TV in a long time.
  2. Bobson Dugnutt still gets me every time.
  3. Kinda aggy to pick 13 as the cutoff.
  4. Lonnie Breakfast Taco
  5. I'll miss this gif:
  6. But that doesn't account for the adjustment factor!
  7. Well since we're all SEC now, let's include 78-37-5 in the math.
  8. How about this:
  9. Of course I mean fans. Isn't that what we are here? But my overall point still stands... if the only goal is to win a championship, why the hell do Rice and all the others keep playing? No one plays football because they make more money when they win a championship. They can and they have and probably will again.
  10. Then why do Rice and about 90 other FBS schools have a football team? Championships are great because they are incredibly FUN. There's no inherent value in them.
  11. Bullshit. The point of sports is fun and entertainment. If you are only entertained by championships, you are going to be (or already are) a miserable son of a bitch. If the point was just championships, we wouldn't have divisions and Indiana football would have folded shop decades ago.
  12. It must be exhausting living life with these types of unrealistic standards. You know how I know it is unrealistic? Alabama missed it last year. Notre Dame missed it this year. Michigan missed both of the past two years. If you think Texas is on a different tier than these teams, you are delusional. There are too many injuries, unknowns, and bad bounces that can happen in a given season to have this as a reasonable expectation. There are going to be whiffs on talent evaluation in the portal. Depth is no longer a luxury for ANYONE. It's a new world. A realistic expectation is more like make it 2 of 3 years and be in the conversation/on the bubble in 4 of 5 years. The trick is not to freak out in that down year and blow up a program that works.
  13. Let’s not act like Indiana didn’t almost step in a pile of shit on their march to the championship. They needed a miracle in Happy Valley to make 16-0. Be sure to PM Derka to receive your vouchers for internet gotcha points.
  14. I don't feel like I really need to provide my orange-blooded Astro fan Dodger-hating bona fides in this thread. However, I am not some aggy who tries to blame an imagined systemic advantage for a team that is currently more successful than mine. There's no arguing with the statistic that in 2024 (latest year with data), the Dodgers put 73% of revenue towards payroll while the Astros sat at 48.5%. I begrudgingly acknowledge their willingness to spend money to make money. I'm not praising it, but I don't think they are the devil for doing it.
  15. All right... y'all sold me. Dodgers do have a financial advantage over other teams with the exemption from TV revenue sharing.
  16. Not going to put a ton of stock into a Padre fan's post about the Dodgers. Now let's do a payroll vs revenue comparison across the league. The Dodgers make bank, but they also pour it back into the product.
  17. Plaschke can EABOD.
  18. I ain't mad at it. Dodgers spent all that money and needed a miracle from a nobody to actually win the WS last season. It's fun to slay giants, so we need a league with a few giants.
  19. Get ya bag, son. Ain't mad at it. Astros are the one who broke the bond, even if it was a good baseball/business decision. The Dodgers are not a stupid organization. They are getting value out of this deal by staying at the top of MLB. They have to support the Ohtani investment and the value they extract from the Japanese market by fielding a WS contender every year.
