Elon Musk: Nazi traitor piece of shit [Confirmed]

U.S.S. Harry S Truman carrier collides with a merchant ship while preparing to enter the Suez Canal- supposedly no below waterline damage to either ship
Swim call is a high-risk/low-reward evolution that has been naturally phasing out as fewer and fewer COs are willing to assume that risk. It's a minimal morale boost that could turn into a shitshow if a Sailor were to drown. That said, I'm glad I got to do it a couple of times during my career, once over the Mariana Trench.

My experience is that it has variable buoyancy based on liquid and gas content, just like certain type of maritime vessel. Even has a similar tapered shape.

JFK plowed over a dhow in NAG during OIF.- U.S.S. Harry S Truman carrier collides with a merchant ship while preparing to enter the Suez Canal- supposedly no below waterline damage to either ship
Not the first time USN has had a collision in that patch of water. It's a highly congested area. This is one of the hardest force protection problems to crack - how do you keep threat actors away from high value assets in high traffic international straits? Without prior intelligence, large merchants are always going to be classified as a non-threat. They are simply a navigation problem to solve, not a threat to avoid or mitigate. It's not practical to maintain separation of more than a couple hundred yards max with these ships in some of the tighter areas. As the carrier, you can't really say, "500 yds and no closer" in tight areas like international straits. It's a bit of a different story with smaller craft. There is usually host nation security that will keep small craft outside of the carrier's security zone. We are reliant on host nation for the most part. We don't have patrol craft in this area to do surface interdiction of potential threat craft (we do have these in Djibouti, Fujairah, Jebel Ali/Dubai, Bahrain, and Kuwait), and they can't travel with a strike group. Escorts (DDGs and CGs) are too large themselves and the area is too congested for them to do threat interdiction. There was probably an armed SH-60 airborne doing nominal force protection duties.- 24/25 Astros Offseason thread
Don't get focused on the $30M present value number for Bregman. He's still getting $40M AAV on this deal. The accounting trick is when those payments come.- 24/25 Astros Offseason thread
You are mixing up different value calculations in your comparison. You use the contract value for the Astros offer and present value for the Boston contract. Gotta pick one and stick with it for comparison.- 24/25 Astros Offseason thread
He doesn't need a $50M deal. He needs a series of short term deals that avg out to 15-20M AAV. No one wants to give 34 yo Alex Bregman 50M, but maybe they'll give him 22M for a year. And then the next team gives him 18M for a year. And then he gets $12M.- 24/25 Astros Offseason thread
- 24/25 Astros Offseason thread
Yep... he should have at least 3 more decent earning years after this contract and will easily surpass what the Astros were offering. He'll probably end up making 15-20M more than what the Astros put on the table.- 24/25 Astros Offseason thread
Possibly... but on projections alone, we still come out ahead on the math. For whatever that's worth.- Thread of good things in the world today

Their projections for Bregman: 24 HR, 87 RBI, 3.6 WAR. Tucker's projected WAR for 2025 is 4.7. With Walker's projection and the removal of the -1.6 WAR we had at 1B last season, Tucker's production is theoretically replaced. It ain't flashy, but we will be fine.- 24/25 Astros Offseason thread
Alexthony Bregdon.- 24/25 Astros Offseason thread
Can’t be mad at him when someone is willing to put that kind of money on the table. Hope he runs up great numbers while the Red Sox lose.- Elon Musk: Nazi traitor piece of shit [Confirmed]

Greg Maddux talks about this phenomenon in this clip. Cliff’s notes: Maddux gave up a meaningless HR to Bagwell in July because he knew that Bags would remember that pitch when they met in the playoffs. Sure enough, Bagwell was looking for that pitch and whiffed on three straight change-ups. Maddux’s exact quote - “hitters remember success.”- Elon Musk: Nazi traitor piece of shit [Confirmed]
The AWD Model Y is 4.8 seconds. V-8 Camaro would beat it, V-6 would not... but the fact that we are splitting these hairs proves my point.- Elon Musk: Nazi traitor piece of shit [Confirmed]
Model S has a better 0-60 than everything on the list except the Corvette. Model S Plaid would make the 'vette look silly. Model Y beats everything but the Corvette and 911.- Elon Musk: Nazi traitor piece of shit [Confirmed]
It's like I'm sitting here playing cards with my brother's kids... There are three main categories of vehicles on that list... shitboxes, rollovers, and performance vehicles. Higher performance vehicles lead to higher instances of fatal crashes. Teslas fit in with the performance vehicles on that list.- Elon Musk: Nazi traitor piece of shit [Confirmed]
No agenda with the Rolling Stone article at all... Here is the full list of of the 23 vehicles that iseecars.com deemed "the most dangerous cars on the road." From the iseecars.com article that Rolling Stone based its article on: "A vehicle’s size, weight, and height certainly play a part in its ability to protect passengers in a crash,” said Brauer. “But the biggest contributor to occupant safety is avoiding a crash, and the biggest factor in crash avoidance is driver behavior. A focused, alert driver, traveling at a legal or prudent speed, without being under the influence of drugs or alcohol, is the most likely to arrive safely regardless of the vehicle they’re driving.” We've already established in various threads that many Tesla drivers drive like assholes. Mix that in with the vehicle's acceleration and some drivers' unfamiliarity with regenerative braking, and operator error leads to a higher rate of accidents for these vehicles.- Elon Musk: Nazi traitor piece of shit [Confirmed]
That's the planned track. You are familiar with the concept of relative motion, right?- Elon Musk: Nazi traitor piece of shit [Confirmed]
I have a lot of experience with the system. What I see in the video is driver overreaction to very minor preparatory maneuver by the vehicle. It can be unsettling if you don't have experience with the system or the vehicle. When it comes to "what do the data say", I can only point out what they don't say. There is not an epidemic of Tesla FSD accidents or fatalities that indicate significant safety risks to the public. Show me those data, and I will change my stance accordingly. We have had plenty of time for those data to surface, but they have not. It didn't do that. your confirmation bias is showing. - I have to go to Minneapolis on Monday.
