  1. It is a rounding error for her. Not devastating at all. Needs to think of it as a trade item against hyperinflation like I do. CHIEF
  2. I shot my first deer with a .243, that is still my favorite gun to shoot to this day. It is a "varmint special" with a 20-22" barrel, and at the time, was longer than I was tall. I was six and very small for my age, probably about 35 lbs. soaking wet. For me, it was about like shooting a .50BMG. I still have two scars over my left eye from getting hit by the scope ring on two different occasions . CHIEF
  3. I told CHIEF Jr. (who is fixated on binary triggers) that I don't really see the point of being able to rip through $30 of ammo in three seconds. I told him absolutely no on any of our ARs, even his. My house, my rules. He pushed to get the XT22, and add it to that, but even .22LR, at that rate of fire would eat up $100 of ammo in about a minute. If SHTF, in reality, you would want to conserve your stockpile for the long haul. CHIEF
  4. My mother decided to buy 100 oz. of silver and 4 oz. of gold last Tuesday, she went from kindergarten through high school with the owner of Cowtown Metals, in Ft. Worth. She locked in a price of $115 on uncirculated Silver Maples and I'm not sure how much she paid for the four uncirculated Liberty gold coins. She has been bitching all weekend about it. I didn't think she would be able to take delivery for a few weeks, but he had it by Thursday. Herself, and the three of us went to go pick it up today, and eat lunch in Ft. Worth. Tom, the owner, told her not to worry. He is really conservative on where he thinks the prices will be by the end of the year, but says he expects silver to be about $300/oz, and gold to be at $6000/oz. I offered to pay for lunch since she was still a bit butthurt from having to start out behind the eightball. People were coming in and asking for gold coins, all the gold he had left, in the store was two 1/10th ounce coins, and nothing but junk silver. It looked like HEB shelves the day before an ice storm. I think he actually pulled my mom's coins from his own personal stash out of their seventy year friendship. CHIEF
  5. I’m not wading through 14 pages. But if you go to check your notifications on my IMac, they won’t open. I have to check them on my IPhone, so you have to swap back and forth. If this has been raised, I apologize CHIEF
  6. My FIL got Jerry Scarbrough's newsletter till the day he died. He would read stuff to me that I had known about for 2-3 weeks from Hornfans. CHIEF
  7. Probably some of that sweet Tom Petty money. CHIEF
  8. I'm the same way. Easiest way to confiscate it is to not let me into my safety deposit box. I have an uncle that has the old post office safe from Kopperl, Tx. Its welded to the floor in his workshop. It isn't big enough for much precious metal (probably 4'x4'x3') but the doors are about a foot thick, and the rest is probably about 4" thick. Our whole extended family keeps their wills and deeds in there. It probably weighs an easy 10k pounds. I've tried to keep up with small town post office closings, but it relies heavily on word of mouth. CHIEF
  9. We made Larry Ellison have to go dig through his couch cushions again. CHIEF
  10. Here is someone else that explains how this was a move against China: CHIEF
  11. Yeah, but I see were DD is coming from. If you subtract 72" from 85" that is only 13 inches left for the measurement across the chest. CHIEF
  12. Ah, the Cool River of Lubbock. Gotcha. As for Brandon Harris, I have come to accept him for what he is, a glorified six figure travel agent. Booking fights, hotels, restaurant reservations, and probably gets to drive the van to Peter Pan Mini Golf. CHIEF
  13. The way the $9.95ers made it sound was that a Hail Mary was performed on both to keep them out of the portal, since they wouldn't be eligible to return, per Sark's rule. This just happens to be the first time we have players that we can't afford to loose enter the portal. After losing out on the Whisky LB, I wish they would have broke their rule on Lafua. CHIEF
  14. Well, the last day to register for classes is January 20th. Not sure if portal athletes get a special exception. But, holding out for a bigger offer is going to cost some players the Spring semester, and Spring practice, putting them behind the eight ball. Like posted earlier, there are going to be several hundred kids that will never play football again because of their overinflated opinion (or their agent's overinflated opinion) of how much they are worth. I can't wait for the first lawsuit where a former athlete sues the shit out of his agent over a poor evaluation of his market value. CHIEF
  15. Our NIL funds. CHIEF
  16. Uh, I think you forgot the fourth P. CHIEF
  17. I would hope so. But, if I were Sark I would quit saying that "you can't come back." I would tell the players that it is on an individual basis. CHIEF
  18. I really don't like Sark's rule of, "if you enter the portal you can't come back." There are players that you want to portal and that you wouldn't take back. But for the Kobe Blacks, Bo Barnses, Filsiames and others that you would like to keep on the roster, let them go kick some tires. If better offers never present themselves, let them come back. I know Florida and Michigan are going through coaching changes but they have had their bell cows enter the portal, see what other schools are offering, then offer enough to make them stay home. I don't know how many other schools have the same rule, but it seems like another way to hamstring your ability to put together the best roster. CHIEF
  19. Not necessarily. I grew up clearing brush, and have burned dozens of brush piles. I would say 15% or so would smolder for weeks. You did your best to clear anything that would burn from the hotspot, and check it a few times a day. We always burned after a heavy rain, but the sap would burn forever. Green cedars are the worst. CHIEF
  20. Bet it tastes like suckin' on a penny. CHIEF
  21. Was the oil already paid for? And where was it headed? Could be to rub a little salt in the wound for Ol' Xi. I think there is a lot more unseen animosity between the US and China than we know about. Probably three times as many classified documents coming in as non classified. Its halfway around the World, so its really tough to know what is happening in the South China Sea. CHIEF
  22. I've been kinda going down a rabbithole. We are at war with China, just a non shooting war currently. They are actively trying to corner the market on precious metals, starting BRICS to topple the US Dollar as the World's Reserve Currency. They are in the process of dumping trillions in US bonds, to drive hyperinflation, here, in the US. Of course there is no access to the information from the West. But, I have seen estimates that the Chinese have spent around $200 million in Venezuela for military assistance, infrastructure (all siphoned off, more than likely), food and humanitarian aid (also likely siphoned off). ReutersChina's oil investments in VenezuelaChina is a major customer of and investor in Venezuela's oil sector, which President Donald Trump aims to revive following the U.S. military's ouster of President Nicolas Maduro on Saturday.China has invested heavily in Venezuelan O&G, enough to where they are purchasing approximately 700,000 BPD. All shipments have stopped since Maduro was nabbed. So, my theory, it was about oil. Not for the US to go steal it, since the economics wouldn't work. But to sink the Chinese investment, and a small portion of their supply (4.5%). Starving off oil was what won the WWII Pacific Theatre. That 4.5% might end up being crucial to China if they try to start shit on Taiwan. Venezuela was just the obvious choice to hit China and Russia in the nuts. China has been landing some haymakers lately. This was the closest place to kill two birds with one stone. Unfortunately, it was beef between the two World's largest Super Powers, poor Venezuelans were never thought of past this point. With US crop prices in the shitter, we could flood Venezuela with soybeans. CHIEF
