I disagree. In my mind the blame lies with the state and local governments. Because - and here's the catch - ultimate responsibility lies with the parents. But it would be absurd for parents to individually inspect a camp's preparedness. We're a civilized country and we should be able to count on government to handle basic safety prep and preventive measures, or to ensure they're in place. Especially where it concerns 1,000 isolated children at a camp.
I hate these fake religious fucks so much. Not having attended the camp but having heard that it's highly religious, I imagine those christian children prayed and prayed. They probably prayed someone with the state or county would arrive with help. Lotta good it did.
Thanks for the pics, alexis texas. Didn't realize Camp Mystic was in a minimal risk area as designated by FEMA Flood Maps. That seems incredible based on reality.

Following the Shoal Creek flood in 1991 Austin installed an early flood warning system. Has there been ongoing discussion/investigation of something similar in Hill Country?
fwiw here's the first portion of the results in a search using the site seats.aero for points/mileage redemption opportunities for parts of July and August for flights from AUS to major airports in Europe, sorted from low to high in the business category. There's obv an extra fee for flight to LHR. Green results are non-stop and blue is 1 stop. My search specified at least 2 seats available per flight.
Amusing to see a thread on this. I did the 3-2-1 spare ribs on a pellet grill today after I picked up a package from Costco because they were on sale. They had a peppery rub already on 'em. Added a small bit of Bachan's Japanese barbecue sauce, which I tried for the first time and which isn't sweet at all. Excellent combo.
