  1. If that's who I think it is...
  2. Maybe we should be.
  3. Gotta play the greatest hits to scare the olds into voting, and the Minnesota stuff ain't working, the Greenland stuff wasn't. And the Epstein stuff... We're gonna bomb Iran.
  4. Meanwhile, if I'm tracking down some third-party/fan translation of a pirated South Korean romantasy novel for my wife, I’m using VPNs, anonymous browser on strict privacy settings, and other measures, etc.
  5. Robin Leach allegedly murdered a girl.
  6. Very polished, already lots of mods. Middle-schooler and I are having fun with it. If your kid likes Minecraft and you don’t, this could be a solid middle ground.
  7. As an 80s kid, I’m not going to lie, I am intrigued by the idea that Robin Leach was out murdering people. Don’t believe it, but love seeing his name there.
  8. Why aren't we taking financial advantage of these simpletons.
  9. Friday news dump - surprised they didn't wait until next weekend with the Super Bowl. Nothing else major happening right now. But it'll probably be tomorrow morning.
  10. They were pulling in federal agents over Christmas/New Year's to redact stuff, and I'm wondering if some of them that were pissed off let this stuff slide through on purpose.
  11. Since every single file is apparently being looked at by a person, you know some low-level agent who is pissed about all of this stuff let this slide through and get out into the open.
  12. Both he and Pike are bringing on the gray/silver/white hair and I support anything where such hair is celebrated.
  13. I believe it will drive mid-term voting at a level never before seen, in a good way for Dems. I also have faith that Greenland is not the most batshit thing that Trump will do this year. I don't know if it'll be the Trump administration trying to peel Alberta out of Canda, or if it'll be us full-on taking over Cuba. Or us fucking with Guyana (Chevron and Exxon may have a large chunk of their offshore, but there's a Chinese company operating there that I'm sure somebody around Trump has their eyes on). Iran, I think will happen, but it's whether we can truly knock out their leadership, and it's not that batshit compared to other stuff. Colombia and Mexico, take note, you're safe.
  14. I can speak for Scouting America (what was BSA) - it's extremely inclusive, to the point where Whiskey Pete Hegseth called them out for adding girls....*checks notes* 7-8 years ago, and he even said some bullshit about a "masculine space" was removed or something, which is hilarious when we have had decades of female leaders of all-boy Cub Scout Packs and Boy Scout Troops going back to at least the 70s and 80s. We have boys and girls together in Cub Scouts (Kinder - 5th) and in 6th grade, we would split them up into boy and girl troops, but even that is changing - they are currently piloting mixed troops, or "family" troops catering to siblings/families who have both boys and girls (but there are still girls-only troops and boys-only troops). Oh, and some packs/troops are run through churches, and some of those seem to be struggling depending on the church (a lot of scouts don't belong to the churches that charter their groups), while those groups chartered through other organizations or more inclusive churches seem to be performing better. Definitely the church thing. I'm not sure how that will shake out, but I feel like the MAGA-type churches can't truly sustain themselves (and when Trump's gone, I wonder what, if any, changes will occur). My wife went to one nearby that was MAGA-lite (Southern Baptist, but the clergy were good people, although they've all retired/left for other churches) and their membership continued to fall and COVID should have killed it off (and they lost enough olds to COVID). Her new church is Presbyterian, friendly to any and all folks, and the services are booming to the point where they are adding another service on top of the 3-4 they already have and looking at how they can expand without losing their atmosphere. VFW, no idea, not eligible for it, although friends say it's a mixed bag and really depends on the location. I can speak for American Legion a little bit - it's also depending upon location, but I will say that it skews slightly different than the VFW since it has no foreign/wartime service requirements and gets a large number of vets like me who are not eligible for the VFW (I think AL may have more members). It's a lot of folks who are older - think service in the 90s back to just after Vietnam ended, and who missed the various overseas combat actions during that timeframe. That's not to say that there are those who don't have dual membership, most VFW members seem to have AL membership, but I feel like a lot of the Afghanistan/Iraq vets spend more time with the VFW. I really don't participate though because the times always sucked for those of us with families - just pay dues (I like some of the activities they support and some of the causes they are pushing). A lot of vets have gotten help through the VFW or AL when they weren't getting help elsewhere and I definitely support that. But damn, both of them do seem to trend to older guys.
  15. This is exactly why Homan headed to Minnesota to try and cool things off and get ICE out of there and out of the news, and keep them out of the spotlight and working instead at jails and prisons. There's a lot of Republicans in Congress who may not be catching heat like that face-to-face at a town hall, but there is an increase in the volume of contact from their constituents over this stuff and they have their internal polling. The fact that ICE is bailing on Maine - that was straight up Collins either telling the White House she was potentially losing her seat, or that she would join in on supporting anything that happens (investigations, etc.).
  16. So if the rumors/discussions are true about ICE going to Springfield, Ohio (a large Haitian refugee/immigrant population) on the 4th with plans to cleanse it, (Noem canceled refugee status last year, Feb 3rd is the end-date), and we start seeing ICE working over Haitians....I'm curious what that'll do, if we see ICE agents working over Haitians of all ages. Springfield prepares for a potential immigration enforcement surge Ohio could see ICE surge in Springfield after Haitian TPS expires 'The folks are fearful.' Haitians living in Ohio may soon lose temporary protected status • Ohio Capital Journal Thousands of Haitians living in Ohio will lose their temporary protected status next week unless a federal court blocks it. About 330,000 Haitians are living in the United States with Temporary Protected Status (TPS), a program that allows people from specific countries in conflict or facing natural disasters the chance to live and work in the United States for a set period of time. Haiti is currently plagued by gang violence and instability, with many fleeing the small Caribbean nation to the United States for their lives. Many of the refugees have no homes to return to in Haiti, and are fearful for their families’ safety if forced to return. The Trump administration has set a date to end protected status for Haitians on Feb. 3, barring any action from a federal appellate court. This also means they will lose their work authorization, so they will no longer be authorized to work legally. “At that point, they could potentially be arrested, detained, or put in removal proceedings unless they have already applied for some other form of relief they have in addition to TPS, or that they are applying for in addition to TPS,” said Emily Brown, Ohio State University Moritz College of Law’s Immigration Clinic Director. U.S. District Court Judge Ana C. Reyes will decide whether to suspend the expiration of the protected status for Haitians and her decision is expected Feb. 2. About 30,000 Haitians with temporary status live in central Ohio and an estimated 12,000 to 15,000 Haitians call Springfield home, with a mixture of temporary protected status, citizenship, and other legal status. “The folks are fearful,” said Viles Dorsainvil, executive director of the Haitian Support Center in Springfield. “They came here just to work and send their kids to school and be here peacefully,” said Dorsainvil, who came to the United States from Haiti in 2020. “All of a sudden, they find themselves in another scenario where they’re not accepted… They are panicked and the worst thing is that they can’t even plan their lives for three months down the road.” Haitians with temporary status could apply for asylum, Brown said. “If they have a pending asylum application… they have the right to apply for work authorization and to not be removed while they’re waiting for their application to be pending,” she said. However, the Trump administration put an indefinite freeze on processing all asylum applications at the end of 2025. “There’s a lot of concern that people may be put in detention while they’re waiting for their asylum hearings, and be taken away from their kids, their work, and their homes,” said Ohio Immigrant Alliance Executive Director Lynn Tramonte. Haitians were initially granted temporary protected status after Haiti’s earthquake in 2010 killed 222,570 people. The Biden administration extended Temporary Protected Status to Haitians in 2021 after the assassination of Haiti President Jovenel Moïse. Gang violence, political instability, and hunger make it unsafe to return to Haiti. Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine said Ohio officials are expecting a 30-day ICE surge in Springfield starting Feb. 4. “The ACLU of Ohio urges state and local elected officials to do everything in their power to protect the 30,000 Haitians living in Central Ohio,” said J. Bennett Guess, ACLU of Ohio’s Executive Director. DeWine, who was born in Springfield, has said often talked about how the Haitian people are contributing to Springfield’s economy. “They are reliable,” DeWine told reporters in December. “They show up, they work, they want overtime, they’re reliable, and they pass drug tests.” Mike and his wife Fran DeWine help support the Becky DeWine School in Haiti, named after their late daughter, but the school had to close due to gang activity in 2024. The judge deciding the case (Trump and Miller are going to go hard on her and/or ignore her/appeal it):
  17. And I'm going to tell them that not only is it true, but that Maduro's buddy Putin is going to help us steal the 2026 and 2028 elections. They'll be so conflicted about being mad at Putin.
