Sorry about the fancy plating, but thought of this thread when I heated up some chili while cleaning out the freezer today. Harkens back to my days of Chili cheese burritos from T Bell. If I’d had some Fritos it would’ve been turned to 11, but Trader Joe’s jalapeño sauce was a nice touch.
Always liked Southwells when we lived over in Spring Branch. Off the beaten path a little, Itty Bitty Burger Barn makes a damn good burger in NW Oak Forest. I realize how rarely I eat burgers that I don’t cook myself, because I’ve still never been to Stanton’s or Lankford after being here for 7 years.
Billy’s is just outside of Lafayette.
I would encourage you to try Best Stop if your route is the same on the way back. Same exit, opposite side of the highway
Probably not so much for the kids, but business wars holds my attention for pretty good stretches at a time, and they tend to make the stories really interesting.
Agree with swayze; I’ve only been once but it was very very good. The sausage in your pic did not look at all like what I got. Like you said, must’ve been an off day.
Had to go to Jackson for work a couple times this spring. Iron Horse downtown was a really cool spot with good food and drinks, in a very cool old building. There’s a decent Mediterranean place over by millsaps. That’s all I got.
Trying to find some new spots to take my kids and meet up with a friend to have a drink, while the kids can have something to do. The usual suspects for this type of place for us are normally Stomping Grounds or Preslee’s, but looking to find some new ideas. Anyone else have other go-tos?
Is Juarez that much better than Chavez? When we lived in spring branch we’d go to Chavez just because their building was a little nicer lol. Will be disappointed to know if I missed out for those four years.
Yeah that was jarring in the first few min of episode 1. Mac and Dee both had a shit ton of work done on their face recently and it’s off putting. Real Mac would never.
HEB subbed my snapper for rockfish, but it still went well with the mango salsa. Served with some quinoa salad my wife made. Slammed, went hard, etc etc.
This bitch was awfully pretty. No cut picks as I was feeding folks and ain’t nobody got time for that. I think I’m getting to the point where the next time I will really, really trim the edges, as that bottom left corner of the flat was dry as fuck and I no longer feel the need to keep something around that’s not enjoyable to eat. Thing thing cooked pretty fast. Put on at 11 pm, woke up at 6 to it already being at 190, but stalling. Made for a great bark, but I still wrapped and added my liquid tallow on the top side before doing so. 11.5 hours total for about 10.5 lbs
