Haven’t been super impressed with the Fla HSFB I saw this weekend. If not for Dia Bell, they mostly looked like ass. Derrick Coopers team got their asses kicked hy whatever Maryland team they played.
That’s the beauty of this show though… even my hometown of 2,200 in the arklatex could’ve been Arlen. The one episode where they meet all the boomer sooner people should’ve definitely keyed everyone in to the fact that it was a Dallas burb though. I know Judge grew up in McKinney, but I always thought it was funny that every notable Texas landmark was only a hop skip and a jump from Arlen in the show
Profile pic doesn’t check out
I got about 3.5 in today before I got too busy with work but some really good moments so far. The first scene with bill, Peggy/hank in bed when Bobby pocket dials, and the whole episode about getting more charcoal cracked me up.
They’ve finally gotten rid of the ambiguity of where Arlen is located as well which is kinda funny to me. It makes a lot more sense with how east Texas a lot of the people actually are
Had some vendor reps take me and a few coworkers out to dinner a couple weeks ago. Barbusa in little Italy was fuckin awesome. Our waitress recommended we just get their mega appetizer sampler instead of decided between a hunch of different apps. She was correct.
I’ve only been to Bend once. Had a fantastic halibut sandwich somewhere that someone on this site or shaggy recommended but I can’t remember what it was called. Generally I found the scenery to be beautiful but the people there were the fucking worst. YMMV
Maybe that’s not the right word… maybe “bite” would’ve been more appropriate. It wasn’t mushy, but it was a little too fall off the bone, at least if I am nitpicking.
St. Louis cut yesterday, these were more like a 3-1-1. Kinda wish the meat had a little more pull to it, but everyone raved about them so I’m not going to complain. Flavor-wise, they were one of my better efforts.
Yeah, previously would wrap brisket in towel and then place in cooler. Honestly though even placing towels in top would seem to get them smelling like bbq to the point my wife would probably complain when doing laundry. I think every self respecting Texan has the same dark blue or dark green towel that sits in the garage only to be used for holding bbq lol.
The thing pictured above makes transporting super easy though. Way easier to carry that around than a cooler, especially if I’m bringing bbq to the office for a potluck or something.
We eat a ton of the garlic hummus, but I had never seen this one before. I guess it was discontinued for a while or something and was brought back recently. It’s very good and herby.
