I moved from Texas 24 years ago and still remember my DL number.

🇺🇸 2024 Election Day 🇺🇸
It's a great place to live other than the obvious. No gerrymandering. Constitutional ballots on the ballot (Abortion and Same-Sex Marriage) are in there permanently, or at least they should be.

Agreed. Best NY style pizza in Colorado. Opened a second location in Longmont, which is much closer for me.

Denver
Depends on where you want to be. Can't go wrong with Boulder or Golden. I would pick Boulder, personally, but it's a little farther from Coors Field. Not that much farther, plus you can take the light rail into Coors Field. Personally, I would still choose Boulder

My daughter's boyfriend is from Maui and she spent a few weeks with his family in Kula last month. His Dad is a famous surfer and owns a few businesses in Maui. The boyfriend was going to school in Colorado, graduated in May. He was planning on moving back to Maui in a couple of weeks and has been a wreck knowing there's nothing he can do to help and not knowing how they were doing.- How many DDD restaurants have you eaten in

Per Kiplinger, Texas is one of the least tax friendly states for retirees. Colorado came in as one of the best states for retirees. You might be surprised to see the Lone Star State on the list of least tax-friendly states for retirees. After all, isn't Texas one of the handful of states with no income tax? Well, yes, it's true that there are no income taxes in Texas...which means no taxes on Social Security benefits, pensions, 401(k)s, IRAs, or any other type of retirement income. But a lot of states don't tax these types of retirement income anyway (or at least partially exempt them), so states without any income tax don't necessarily have an advantage over other states when it comes to taxes on seniors. Texas' main problem is with its property taxes. The state's median property tax rate is the seventh-highest in the country. For our hypothetical retired couples, that means an estimated annual property tax bill of $4,383 for the couple with the $250,000 home and $6,136 for the couple with the $350,000 home. On the bright side, seniors may be able to get a $10,000 property tax exemption, have their tax bill "frozen," or delay payment of taxes. Sales taxes are on the high end in Texas, too. The state imposes a 6.25% tax, but local governments can tack on up to 2% more. When combined, the average state and local sales tax rate in Texas is 8.2%, which is the 14th-highest combined rate in the country.- The Texpatriates Thread
Yes, depending on the home value, the property tax savings offsets the state income tax. Our current home is assessed at about $850K and our property taxes are a little over $6K. We're looking at moving to a new home in an unincorporated area. Sales tax will be 2.9% as opposed 8.52%. Will save quite a bit on Amazon purchases.- The Texpatriates Thread
I think CO is pretty solid blue at the state level. There has only been one republican governor since 1975. At the Congressional District level, District 4 & 5 are solid red. Boebert's 3rd district is the most vulnerable in my opinion. We'll see what happens in the new 8th Congressional District.- Other States BBQ
They have/had two Rudy's in CO. There was one in Greeley that closed, but I believe the one in Colorado Springs is still open. Wayne's Smoke Shack in Superior is legit. His restaurant was closed after the fire in December and I don't think it's re-opened.- RMNP day trip. Recs?
Trail Ridge Road typically doesn't upon until the end of May, so that may not be an option. I'd recommend Rock Cut Brewing to eat. Absolutely avoid Bob & Tony's Pizza and Estes Park Brewery- Lauren Boobert - Tits and a Gun

- Why I voted the way I did
In CO, and voted as did Goredho. Voted for every Democrat, and against any GOP/Conservative ballot amendments/propositions, save one, the National Popular Vote. A no vote was for the conservative side of things, but CO is a solid blue state now and should be in the future. I'd hate to see the Dem win the CO Popular Vote, and have the electoral votes go to the GOP candidate should they win the National Popular Vote. Again, don't see that happening, but not going to risk it.- CR: COVID-19 --Political Talk
