2023 Texas Volleyball - Back to Back!
I'm certainly no expert, or even knowledgeable, on volleyball, but I've noticed this with women's basketball too. 20 years ago someone in my office created a women's March madness office pool, and it went almost chalk the entire way. Not only just all 1s making the final four but even pretty much all 10s beating 7s, etc. I doubt it's quite that extreme in women's basketball today, but I think that it's a function of 1)less available players from the talent pool so the big dogs get the good ones, and 2) without stepping into a cloakroom minefield, girls mature earlier and there is less of a huge growth post puberty (testosterone does amazing shit to the body) so there's less likely to be some overlooked late bloomer that lower schools can snag and develop.

Common vernacular with objectionable origin
I used to use sell down the river. Never really thought about its origin until someone pointed it out to me. I always thought that "Oriental" was the PC term until I used it about 15 years ago and a Korean colleague lit me up. It's like a memo was sent out to everyone but me and it became racist to use it overnight. Unlike "sell down the river" that term doesn't have some inherent racial origin afaik. I was on a conference call with a Native tribe and a colleague used the term "circle the wagons".

Doesn’t matter, had sex…wait…
I drive through Western Wisconsin a few years ago and twice saw a Confederate flag flying over a home. It was odd, to say the least.

Tell Me About Texas a&m
I recently moved from the upper Midwest where I knew only one aggy. He was a nice enough guy but spouted some of the craziest maroon tinted glasses stuff. I had no idea where he got all that from. Until now. It was just regurgitating the latest post from chin pubes. He's basically an electronic yell leader to tell the masses the next "cheer" they should be doing.

I looked up Klein's bio to see if anything he's done merits any of this aggy fanfare regarding his hiring. All I see is that his first victory as a starting QB came against, you guessed it, Texas. In their eyes, they finally have the one that knows how to beat big brother.

Texas opens as a 12.5 point favorite v Oklahoma State in the Big 12 Championship
Obligatory maybe Iowa beats Michigan by 23.5. Of course I'm not even sure how many games they've even scored more than 23 but it ain't many.

Arch Manning: Scores every way possible
For all intensive purposes you are correct.

Didn't we do something similar to the other stoops brother that sark wanted as DC? Memory is fuzzy as to specifics but I thought he got on a plane as our DC but when he landed the offer was rescinded for similar reasons of a revolt in the ranks

Fuck Big 12 refs
Good to see a fellow liberal arts grad on the forum. Welcome.

Lincoln Riley to USC
You sly son of a bitch. Aggy gonna read this, think you called them poor, and offer LR 12mm guaranteed just to show you they have more money than big brother. Well played.

T'Vondre Sweat Appreciation Thread
Of all the guys we're gonna lose to the draft after this year, Sweat might be the one we miss the most.

Today I learned he was the one that set off Bo's Ames speech. He's come a long way in 2 years.

Lincoln Riley to USC
Throwing big bucks at a big name coach who has burned down his current program and is on the hot seat there? Who would do something that stupid? Oh, right.

Sure, but if FSU doesn't lose we're still out. Bama just jumps into Georgia's spot as SEC champ and we're still #5.

Ok, not crazy but certainly highly unlikely. OSU is a 14 point dog to Oregon and Arizona certainly would be to Washington. Once you start relying on multiple upsets, odds get pretty long. FSU is the opposite, we only need one loss and have 2 chances. Not to mention no quarterback.

An Alabama on a 10 game winning streak that just won the SEC and beat the 2 time defending champ gets in before us. I'm not saying it's right or fair, but the circumcized one is correct.

This. How is this so difficult? Absent some crazy shit the PAC, big 10 and SEC have a spot. Our only reasonably probable path is FSU losing. I suppose you could hope for 1) Iowa to beat the tOSU/Michigan winner or 2) Oregon st to beat Oregon and then Washington loses in the PAC championship to Arizona, or 3) Auburn beats bama who then blows out Georgia, but I'm not gonna hold my breath on any of those scenarios. We win 2, FSU loses one. That's the way.

Who is the 8th blue blood? Nebraska? Because that job is now clearly tier 2 if not 3.

Aggy is dumb and values splash over competency. Therefore we actually want them to get exactly what they want.

So, the liberal hippy school gets a former green beret to walk on and the rural redneck corps school has an observant jew from Philly. Makes perfect sense

One of my sister's kids plays a non revenue sport for Stanford (see how I phrased that to avoid the inevitable requests for pics?). They are always flying all over the Midwest and East Coast. It's kind of like professional sports where they'll schedule a bunch of east coast teams back to back and just stay out there a few days. Does not seem fun or helpful for grades.
