And to be clear I have 3 kids, so yes things worry me at points for what they will have to contend with, but in that respect it's no different than the micro things in life when it comes to kids (how are they doing in school, do they have a significant other and what's that relationship's health look like, do they manage finances well, etc). There is a point (and I am there with 1 out of college and 2 in college) where you move from overseer/doer to hopefully trusted advisor at best. They have to chart their own path in their lives, and the world is going to have to do likewise for itself long after I am gone. Acting from a position of constant fear isn't a real good place to be in as a "trusted advisor", locally or globally.
Yep, and it is one thing I understand but don't get. The reality for me as I get older is LESS scares me, at least for me personally. I have less runway left, the world leaving me behind is "the way it is and has ALWAYS been". I can have a little fun bitching about this or that with respect to that fact, but it isn't something I am going to anchor my life and beliefs around. It's kind of the way it is and not a one of us is so special that we are going to beat time and that reality it presents so why the fuck are you going to spend whatever time you have left being spooked by bogeymen.
