Patterson may be the wildcard here.
If he agrees to work for a lesser sum, I think they will convince the masses that he is still good.
If he insists on the pay of a top tier coach, there is no way they are hiring him.
The coup de grace would be him taking a job at another school that then beats the aggies, where he would be getting paid by the aggies, to beat the aggies.
If they are the richest school on the planet and can afford to pay out a $76M buyout, why have they never paid back the $10M loan from the actual academic side more than a decade ago? And why does no one at the school have an issue with that?
The reality is, their fan base isn't giving anyone more than three years to turn that shitshow around, and it is going to end up being a completely ground up reconstruction.
Sharp is driving that place into the gutter both academically and athletically and no one has dared step up to him. I just assume its because he knows where all of the bodies are buried and everyone is afraid of him.
The quickest way to get fired at a&m is to tell them their traditions are stupid.
For Christ's sake, they fought and defended a racist statue on their campus to keep a tradition. You think Joey Freshwater is gonna change one?
I think this check was basically the 12th man handing over all of the money they have collected for the facilities expansion project to the AD right now to cover Jimbo's buyout and subsequent hiring. I think they will have to figure out how to replace that facilities money later.
Someone a few pages back basically said they don't have the money and they will have to do something odd to make it look like they do. I think the halftime check was just that.
She's also not wrong that they always claim to be classy and they rarely ever are.
"If y'all would have just executed better this wouldn't be happening."
The notion that the price of a barrel of oil has any affect on a coaches buyout is completely absurd to me.
Sure, the average oil field worker will go buy a new jacked up F250 when the oil is flowing, but the guy that runs the company that has built his business over time doesn’t blow tens of millions on a losing football coach just because oil prices spikes for a bit.
And just like that, Jimbo’s buyout was found…..
