2025: AUS ➡️ WAW ✈️ BER ➡️ AUS
If you do book separate itineraries - for example, AUS->BER->AUS and then BER->WAW->BER separately - make sure you leave a day between departures on the itineraries. If you miss a flight because your incoming flight on a separate itinerary is delayed, the airline isn't going to give two shits. Have read a lot of horror stories about that.

2024 Presidential Election Thread - Let's keep the party going.
Maybe this is all a good thing. We're all fucking scared shitless at the moment. The left wins when voter turnout is high. What greater motivator is there than fear?

The next USMNT coach
I don't think many of the names being floated have national team manager experience other than Marsh. If it's a coach with club skins on the wall, especially in Europe, that's enough for me to get excited - Klopp, Tuchel, Pochettino. But regardless, anyone on the lists being circulated would be a big improvement.

2024 Hurricane Season thread of DOOM
Recon just found 67 knot winds. Would appear Beryl might already be a hurricane again, 36 hours before forecast.

Agreed. I don't need discounts. I need a reason to spend any money.

Not to put words in his mouth, or any D's mouth, but if you're even remotely a democrat, you're supporting any nominee over fucking Trump. I'm in the "Biden needs to step down" camp but I sure as fuck am voting Biden if he doesn't.

Fair point, I didn't normalize the goal data I was looking at.

USMNT 2024
Maybe. 2009 to 2012 Dempsey was special and, IMO, his peak. I don't think the question is fair because I think we're just now arriving at the start of CP's peak.

USMNT 2024
I'd argue for Tyler Adams, if he could manage to stay on the pitch for a full 90m for more than 1 game a year.

USMNT 2024
Based on what? Dempsey - 57 goals, 19 assists, 13 years, 141 caps Landon - 57 goals, 58 assists (holy shit), 14 years, 157 caps CP - 40 goals, 16 assists, 8 years, 70 caps I don't see "firmly behind" here. I see, at best, it's too early to know but the ratios favor CP other than assists vs Landon.

The SCOTUS would like a word with you. 6 of them, at least.

I know there will be a host of posters that pile on and bash your take but we all need to get on board that there are A LOT of people who share this opinion regardless of your opinion of this opinion. Put in someone else on the D ticket and you actually have a shot at their vote.

It feels, within reason, that most seem to believe we're near 50/50 in this election, maybe 49/51 in favor of whatever mood you are in that day. Regardless, it's tight. If you substituted Biden with Newsome, Whitmer, Pete, or Kamala (I'm leaving out people with 0 experience in governing even though I'd love to see what Obama could do) - do you believe the election would move even more favorably for Trump? I have a hard time believing that. You're making a last second switch of candidate and essentially circumventing the primary process and hitting a reset button - really bad. You take away the primary rallying cry for Trump - great. You swing those undecideds, especially in the youth polling, that can't relate to either - great. You motivate the currently unmotivated on the left to come out and vote - great. You show your party is capable of making a hard ass decision that could backfire greatly because you're doing what's best for the country, you gain the moral high ground - tbd because I'm not totally convinced that's actually worth anything. It's a scary ass decision but I can definitely see the argument for it.

The next USMNT coach
The MLS coach point above is so salient. In the past, it made some sense since most of the player pool was MLS based. But now, it's near 100% top 5 Euro league based and we need a manager that understands how Italy differs from England from France and how to meld all that together into a cohesive strategy.

USMNT 2024
There seems to be a debate around this that @Captain Ron @Hagbard Celine were having - the net of it being that it doesn't seem clear if that is really the case or not. Depends on if the CBA extends to coaches or is just for the players. And regardless, coaches salary really has dick all to do with it. You can get a perfectly good national team coach for pretty damn cheap (just look at Austria, Slovenia, Slovakia, etc...). I've said it before, but as far as coaching jobs go, national team manager is about is as easy as it gets. The hard part is putting your ego aside and putting the players first. Which GGG is abysmal at.

Would have no problems with BJ. But didn't he just take another job? Not that that is a show stopper but certainly a significant hurdle.

That Jermaine Jones curler from outside the box... Chills even today.

I think Turner is great, perhaps elite, at shot stopping. He lacks in distribution, particularly with his feet. But also agree, he's not our biggest issue by a long shot. I'm just perplexed that, compared to Keller and Howard's teams, GK is the one position we've taken a step back in other than HC.
