  1. 5th RB in the portal in 2025 was Fluff Boutwell. Got 600 yards for Mississippi state in a running back rotation. And I guaruntee you they didn't pay him anywhere close to $1million.
  2. Part of that though is the difference in the setup of College and Pros. In the pros, theoretically at least, the GM hires the coach. In College the coach hires the GM. Also most coaches are control freaks, that's why you see Coaches in the NFL jump at a job that gives them GM/personell oversight roles. Most coaches want to have their hands in everything they can, especially player acquisition.
  3. He was one of the worst rated backs in the SEC. He showed up for 2 games this year. His agent came in asking for $1 million. Just cause the agent is your buddy doesn't mean it wasn't stupid.
  4. What excuse? He was asked about dealing with agents in the portal era and he answered it?
  5. I didn't actually have any problem with his answer. He's addressing an issue with college football today that there is no control over who are agents and the issues it causes. I don't think Sark is open fielding calls from agents....but the same thing happens in the NFL when a players agent as for a unrealistic number from a team. Maybe I'm missing something there, but UT has no control over what an agent is going to ask for when talking to them about a player???
  6. ??? Michael Taaffe went from walk on to 1st team all american. Mestemaker was All AAC.
  7. Wisner chose not to attend and meet with them. "Originally I was led to think Wisner was going to be present for that meeting, but come to find out the conversation was only between folks from Texas and Wisner's representatives."
  8. Dude they met with him, then after they turned down his million asking price, he choose not to meet with them and just have his representatives meet with Texas.
  9. It adds up to a certain degree. Wisner's ego got involved, he felt disrespected, asked for a big number, got rebuffed on that, didn't attend future meetings, heard the talk about bringing in a bell cow, and it all snowballed. I think Wisner and his team misread his position with the team and didn't like reality.
  10. Reined in how? A salary cap? That just brings the bag game back. If they were paying players when it was illegal to do such they sure as heck aren't going to abide by a salary cap.
  11. This is a bad decision for Weisner. I love what he's done for us, but he has shown he can't bear up as the feature back. Whole he knows the difference between injured and hurt, the nicks he picks up through the season limit his effectiveness. He would have been better served staying at Texas then going elsewhere.
  12. Click the link above. They paid him 30k for one season out of a 500k deal and now they are suing him for 390k.
  13. Yeah but paying a guy $30,000 of a $500,000 deal, he leaves and you sue them for $390000 in damages.....seems a bit bitchy.
  14. This should go over well for Georgia https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/47399978/georgia-sued-opening-door-challenge-transfer-portal-damages
  15. Just curious, do we know if @BurntOrange&White is still pissed Sark is being lazy and hasn't signed anyone out of the portal yet? With all this talent available I'm sure he's concerned.
  16. Mackovick was afraid of being outshined by his DC. I don't think Sark is afraid of an OC...I just think he thinks he can do it, right or wrong.
  17. Its possible we asked for a refund.
  18. Hey at for all his fault, at least Sark isn't afraid of competition from his own coordinators.
  19. The football board was always a descent into mental hell. It has it's perks though. The idiocy during the game threads is cheap therapy about how messed up some of those posters lives must be.
  20. Bounced? I'm fairly confident we would have beat any of the 1st round teams this year....but yeah compared to what 85% or so of what longhorn football has looked like in my 45 years on this planet....this year as the "bad year" doesn't sound too shabby.
  21. The big money guys that could force a move, are a lot more realistic than the morons on the football board. It'll take a lot of 9-3 seasons before they start putting pressure on Sark. They want good football and a respectable program. I could see the team being Sarks best team next year and 9-3 isn't a bad season. You've got OSU, OU, at Tennessee, at LSU, at TAMU...Who knows what Ole miss will be next year. As long as the wheels don't come off somewhere or Sark doesn't get hit with a scandal he could go 7-5 next year and he won't be fired. His seat will be awfully hot, but he won't get canned.
  22. So a school that stomached 3 losing seasons of Charlie Strong is suddenly going to fire a coach that took them to the CFP twice because he has back to back 9-3 seasons in which he sweeps OU, Arkansas, and A&M?
  23. Holy... Thoughts and prayers for that poor QB.
  24. 4 our of 5 years??? Really....I mean I posted the rankings earlier....I like PK but last year is the only year he had a truly dominant defense. 2021- offense scored 30+ points in 8 games losing 2 1 to Oklahoma where they had like a 28pt lead and once to fucking Kansas where the offense scored 56 pts and the defense gave up 57. Defense held opponents below 30 pts 4 times. 2022-offense over 30 pts 9 times losing 2 to okie lite and tech, def held opp under 30 pts 8 times. 2023- offense scored 30 pts 11 times. Lost 1 to OU. Def held opp under 30 11 times. 2024-offense scored 30 pts 8 times, def held opp under 30 12 times. 2025-offense scored 30 pts 5 timed. Def held opp under 30 8 timetable This doesn't include bowl games and 30 is a fairly arbitrary number i admit, but so far its been a wash. You could argue SEC has better defense and worse offense then the big 12 if you wanted but I'm not worrying about that. Personally there is never an excuse for a Texas defense to almost blow a 21 pt lead with 10 minutes to go in a game, I dont care if the offense just takes a knee 3 times and punts every possession. Same with a 28 pt lead over your rival at half time or if the offense scores 56 points no defense with Texas on the jersey should ever give up 57 to fucking Kansas. You have selective memory or straight up alzheimers if you think the Texas D has carried the team 4 out of 5 years....
  25. No i have you confused with someone who associates competence with success. The same issues that lead to Vandy making us look like keystone cops on defense in the 4th quarter got us beat by Florida and Georgia.
