First hand report from someone heading out and saw it happen- “Tanker was coming straight into the jetty. We were chugging out at like 6-8kt tanker was on are port side that sporty came up behind us at like 17-18kt went around us on port side me and me and the other mate said “surely he see the tanker right?” Then it was a “holy shit he’s going it hit it” it looked like they tried turning to go on starboard side of tanker but they stopped and that tanker hit them and shattered that boat and plowed over them and it didn’t pop out till the tanker fully went over them I just saw them get hit and I started scrambling for medical kit life jackets and throwable’s.”
  2. Also, and in the spirit of the thread…
  3. Not calling you out, just continuing the conversation; and I completely agree. This is a local haul, between the yard and ramp. I’m hiring a hauler any time the boat leaves city limits bigly. 3/4 ton is okay to move around gingerly, but not for moving a considerable distance.
  4. Water is up pretty good in Aransas Pass:
  5. Yeah, definitely a different type of fishing. I don’t get to spend as much time on the coast as I’d like, so getting out there fast is important. Also, my kids don’t have a huge attention span for trolling at this point, but are usually fired up for a snapper trip. Can’t wait for the fall to get it out to Perdido.
  6. 4x300 It ran 70mph @ 0.8mpg on the sea trial. Not that I’ll ever push it anywhere close to that hard.
  7. My 12 year caught a nice Cobia on our second trip out on the new (to us) Freeman out of Port Aransas.
  8. STR is run by good guys. I don't know how much they're going to be able to grow the business, but the div should be pretty safe. There's a couple of the Brigham guys still hanging around over there.
  9. Service and horse power availability.
  10. And thus, Gap Kid 202x emerged as a meme
  11. That looks awesome! Here’s one I made this weekend. Pepperoni, sausage, jalapeño, onion and fresh garlic.
  12. Not a bad day.
  13. Don’t know who a buyer would be. They don’t have meaningful accretive production or inventory. Maybe a take private candidate?
  14. Self confessed gear whore.
  15. Good thoughts here. Thanks!
  16. Thanks for the input. Question on gear… I have mostly saltwater based fly gear - my 5 wt setup is a hatch 5 and TFO axiom II (sw rod). Any reason that wouldn’t work? We need to catch up sometime soon, it’s been a few years since you were in my office in Midland.
  17. Advice needed. I'm heading to fish the Green outside of Flaming Gorge from a drift boat in a few weeks. Any recommendations for a fly rod/reel/line set up? I've never fished from a drift boat before, and am a relative newcomer to fly fishing in general. Thanks in advance.
  18. Greyson Mills. EnCap backed operator that is consolidating acreage up there. If you have royalty interests under them, it’s probably a good thing for you.
  19. In industry as well. Don’t know how long you’ve been in the business, but I am extremely skeptical of your last sentence, first paragraph. I’m curious where you think the broader economy shores up oil markets when we’re seeing significant, repetitive draws on inventory over the last 5 weeks and we’ve seen oil consistently tick down. Frankly, I’d think that an overheated economy would provide support for oil markets and what we’re seeing real time is that although inflation still seems to be an issue (given the Fed’s rate increase) oil prices are down considerably. IMHO, this is so freaking counter intuitive, as cost of real goods/inputs/in-elastic products should trade in lock step with inflation as opposed to being negatively correlated, which is what we’re seeing with oil vs inflation right now. The fundamentals have no impact on the trade at this point… until they do.
