Champ unleashed a new brussels sprout slaw with feta, bacon and a habanero dressing that needs to stay on the menu forthwith. It's delicious and a very nice, refreshing side to go with that crazy perfect brisket. Nice crowd on hand today too.
I have very little doubt the guy is a psychopath, and I 100% believe the guy is capable of murdering a woman and he may have murdered Theresa halbach. I also 100% know that the story presented and evidence presented in court that convicted him is 100% false. There is literally zero chance the murder happened in the manner in which it was sold to the jury. That conviction is absolutely wrongful. That is not to say he didn't kill her. Just saying, it didn't happen the way they claim because there is no evidence of it happening that way. None.
Obviously the publicity does not hurt, but if it were just for the publicity she could get away with spending a whole lot less on experts, tests, etc. She sure is putting a hell of a lot of effort and actual work into the case. Sure the publicity is great for her. She is now a household name, but she isn't coasting on this by any means. She clearly is invested in getting this overturned, and appears to genuinely believe his conviction was absolutely wrong/unjust.
On spring mountain I would add Behrens and spring mountain winery (smw is where the house from the old show falcon crest is located). The spring mountain elivette is fantastic.
Howell mountain - Cade.
Took the kiddo out to shoot his new Beretta 400 Explor 12 with kickoff he got for Christmas this weekend. I was pretty skeptical the kickoff would really reduce kick as must as they claim (up to 70%), but i'll be damned if it didn't deliver on that claim and frankly exceed my expectations. It worked so well and was so light and easy to get on target, I bought myself one and retiring my old tried and true shoulder cannon 870 Magnum. Neither of us had any shoulder soreness of pain after putting several hundred rounds through the thing. That is huge for both of us. For him because hes only 10. For me because I have had my gun shoulder rebuilt 5 times, and it gets cranky pretty easily.
Texadelphia is now also open on Montrose in the old Berryhill/Yucatan Taco location
I miss Stella Sola and Catalan a good bit.
I miss what Reef was when it first opened. I know it's closed for now, and has been rumored to return. That said, the last time I went there it had lost most of, if not all of it's early glory.
just when I thought I had watched it for the last time, they pull me back in! Still love the show, and love flipping over to HBO and seeing it re-airing right now.
Did robouchon Vegas and it was probably my most disappointing dining experience given it cost me $800 for just me. So many of the fishes were bland and the steak fish was shoe leather tough. The wine pairing was incredibly mediocre too.
Contrast that with addison at the grand Del Mar in La Jolla at the same cost. It was the most amazing dining experience I’ve ever had. The food and wine pairings were simply perfect.
Also of note in a bad way last night was a 2014 Blankiet PRince of Hearts. We went to that as bottle 12 or something when quality no longer mattered so much, and it was total dog shit too. It wasn't corked or anything, it was simply freaking terrible.
Last night we blew threw almost too many bottles to remember them all. A few standouts were
2014 kistler chard
2015 edge hill baciaglupi chard
2010 carte blanc
2012 Phelps backus
2008 checkerboard
2008 st emellion (can’t recall which producer but it was damn good)
2005 Rudd was totally corked and totally ruined. very disappointing. An inordinate number of their wines I have aged have all been dog shit. I only have two left, and am just going to drink them asap. I have zero expectation they’re going to drink well
If we cannot recruit elite ol and dl nothing else matters. We need more elite bodies at every position across both side of the los. Until we have that two deep we simplay cannot compete with Bama, Clemson, etc.
I rented a Mercedes c63 Amg this week in los angekes. That thing is a freaking monster. I loved everything about that car other than the entertainment display. It’s so out of place and just not befitting that car. It’s like an afterthought they simply glued onto the dashboard because they forgot to put it into the design. It’s horrible and distracting. That said, with that engine and drive platform I could easily get over it.
That totally sucks. I am not a fan of the virtual rides. The Harry Potter one of pretty solid, but not what I like in a ride.
Flying back right now with a sporty 144mpg tailwind pushing this thing to 635mph.
I saw it back there as well. Looks incredible
I hope they put a couple of California screaming level rides back there. They badly need some more adrenaline reviving rides.
Hit knots berry farm today. So worth it. Much cheaper than Disney, better rides if your kids are 10+ years old, and their fast lane pass gets you unlimited front of line service. They had 36k people in the park today. The wait for the big wooden coaster (ghost rider) was 2 hours 43 minutes. We rode it twice in 15 minutes. We rode everything we wanted to ride, many of them twice in about 4 hours. What a great park and experience. The rides are really good.
Not a Houston restaurant, but may come in handy for anyone traveling to Dallas. We hit rapscallion last week in Dallas/greenville area. The crab dip appetizer and everything else was really top freaking notch. Highly recommend. They had an unapoened bottle rip van winkle 12 year lot b that I tried buy. They wouldnt sell it to me. I even offered to pay whatever the price would be if they sold it off drink by drink.
