The France Thread
So it looks like that hotel is fully booked every night until September. I think perhaps you told me about it previously because it sounds familiar, and same group as Eden Rock in St. Barth. It can stay on a list for future trips with more advance planning. I think we’re going to book the Hotel Royal Riviera in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat. It puts us very close to VSM and Eze, and a short train ride from either Menton or Nice if we want to venture out. I always imagined SJCF as an area restricted to wealthy residents but it appears that’s not true and it offers exactly what we’re looking for. Royal RivieraHotel de luxe Côte d'Azur - Hôtel Royal RivieraUne expérience de luxe sur la Côte d'Azur avec chambres vue mer, plage privée, piscine extérieure et jardins. Hôtel 5 étoiles. Then the plan is to travel over to Cassis and stay at Les Roches Blanche. Mainly doing that because of my interest in Calanque d’En Vau, which I hope is worth splitting up time between 2 locations. I’m sure it will be as long as weather in June is good enough to enjoy it.

Trump’s America
Perhaps Trump could also bring back asbestos and leaded paint. Don’t let those liberal democrats control what paint you use, go buy Patriot Paint with lead. Let everyone know you support freedom when your house is painted with lead and insulated with asbestos.

Trump/MAGA has ruined sports
I loved the Bad Bunny performance. I watched it again tonight just for a second look. It was potentially a very difficult political and social situation and he crushed it. So many good moments and cameos but the ending sequence was especially powerful. If you truly love this country for what it was and what it should be, not the awful nightmare version we’re suffering through, then that show should give you a tremendous amount of American pride. We have the most popular artist in the world, showcasing a music genre that many people are not familiar with, performing a 13 minute love letter to his home territory of Puerto Rico. Just incredible and he’s doing it at the peak of his career, unlike many recent Super Bowl headliners. I love that MAGA and TPUSA have adopted Kid Rock as their guy. He’s a poster child for white trash so he’s perfect for their movement. Just keep embracing the washed up version of a guy that didn’t even make good music 25 years ago. Maybe get Nicki Minaj next year.

Trump’s America
He wants his name on everything. Saw today he wants to rename Penn Station and Dulles Airport after himself. I wouldn’t be surprised if he goes after Arlington National Cemetery, a national park, maybe the Smithsonian.

Trump’s America
Exactly. If this is really the excuse they are going with, then it suggests Trump has lax security on his own Truth Social account which he likes to use to send out policy decisions and his other absurd demands and executive orders. If that were true, it makes Signal Gate look like peanuts in terms of national security risk.

Cryptocurrencies (Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, etc.)
Has this been one of the worst weeks in crypto history in terms of total market cap lost?

Jeffrey Epstein needs his own thread
Peter Attia had some unpleasant email exchanges with Epstein and he has faced some significant professional fallout this week. I read his Outlive book and listened to a few of his podcast episodes and kinda liked him, but oh well, fuck him. Austin resident for those who were unaware.

Cryptocurrencies (Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, etc.)
Probably, who knows? For the average everyday person though, hopefully they don’t have more money invested in crypto than they are willing to lose. Whatever we may have is pennies compared to the crypto whales of the world, and I think it would be a net positive if it could implode and end the madness associated with it. If a genie told me right now that I could triple my personal BTC holdings and then next week it would hit zero and stay there, I would make that deal.

Cryptocurrencies (Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, etc.)
1. I think it’s resulted in far too much wealth in the hands of people who are a net negative for society. I would happily lose whatever crypto I have if it means the Elon Musks of the world also lose theirs. 2. Crypto mining is terrible for the environment. Absurd amounts of energy being used for a currency.

Jeffrey Epstein needs his own thread
Trump’s name is in the new release of Epstein files hundreds (thousands?) of times after they’ve had weeks to redact that really bad stuff. This is just what we get to see. It’s like a family of golden retrievers normally sleeps on a big dark fleece blanket and then you try to lint roll it clean and then decide to just go after the big clumps of hair and then try to tell people that the blanket is new and you don’t own a dog. And somehow people accept that and half of Congress is willing to stake their career on your obvious lie.

Jeffrey Epstein needs his own thread
Gets asked about Epstein and immediately cuts off the question and attacks the reporter on a personal level, then rants until he can shift his attention to a new person and topic. He’s such a disgusting piece of shit.

Would be nice to see it go to zero.

Do We Have a Christ Followers Thread?
Oh speaking of which, at the time I was attending that church as a teenager, attending various summer camps and weekend retreat things, they always liked to contract worship music with this guy named Jeff Berry. The kids all loved him. Pretty sure I had a CD from him at one point. Well come to find out all these years later, he loved the kids too. In a bit of a Trump Epstein kind of way. KTXSEx-Abilene pastor, Christian musician Jeff Berry arrested...Jeff Berry -- best known in Abilene as the worship leader in the late 90's atGrace Bible Study, a non-denominational bible-study for college students -- was arrested on a child sex crime. Berry -- whoSo a very special FUCK YOU to that church for asking me to sign a paper that I wouldn’t have sex until marriage while the worship leader was actively having sex with boys my age. Makes my skin crawl.

Do We Have a Christ Followers Thread?
Christians need to learn how to police their own. It’s so incredibly damaging to the Christian message to have the pastor of a 14,000 person mega church in Dallas publicly celebrating a movie about a first lady who does nothing, married to a president who spews hatred at every opportunity. The least Christian people imaginable and Robert Jeffress is out there to cheer them on. He was my pastor growing up, fwiw.

- 2026 Midterms ...
That fat fuck was worried enough to post about it today and a lot of good that did them. I read somewhere that Trump has cut back on endorsing candidates for fear of picking losers and looking like a loser himself. He picked a loser today.- 2026 Midterms ...
Voted both times for Rehmet. Fuck Leigh Wombscabs. To say that I am politically frustrated and discouraged living in Tarrant County is an understatement, but this gives me a glimmer of hope.- The France Thread
We’re not really sure. We had a big South of France trip in 2020 that included all of these places with plenty of time. It was cancelled due to Covid and then we got distracted in the Mediterranean islands. This one will be without the kiddo, so the time constraint is mainly how long we’re willing to be away from her, roughly 8 nights. We also have friends that are begging us to do a Provence trip, but they can’t make this one, so as much as we would like to do Aix or Avignon or get up into CdP and Rhône area, we might save that for another time. I think that probably leaves us with ~7 nights on the coast. Calanque d’En Vau has always been on my bucket list, and a person I trust from SBH strongly recommended a hotel called Les Roches Blanche in Cassis, which looks great. Maybe do the beach hike one day and then charter a boat another day. Your suggestion of Hotel Du Cap-Eden-Roc also looks great. Essentially, we’re going for something like Le Toiny but in the Côte d’Azur. Perhaps Antibes is a good second location. As great as VSM and Eze look, my concern is that they will be swarmed by people from Nice.- Asheville, NC
We were there this past October. Weather was amazing, scenery was beautiful with the fall leaves. Stayed at The Foundry Hotel and really liked it. Cool vibe and good location in the center of town, walkable to most things in that part of town. We had 3 great dinners at Jargon, Posana, and Curate. I would eat at any of them again. Did one hike which was the John Rock Trail. It took about 3-4 hours because we had a long snack break at the turnaround point. It was about an hour drive south of Asheville, which is where a lot of trailheads seemed to be. Went to the Sierra Nevada brewery after the hike because it was on the way back. Cool place for sure, but not it’s pretty out of the way if you are coming from town. We were all skeptical about The Biltmore. I’ve been to Versailles and similar places and moving through crowded buildings with a bunch of tourists isn’t my thing. We decided to go and just buy the outdoors grounds access, which ended up being great for us. That allowed us to tour the gardens and drive around the massive grounds without ever being stuck in a mob of people. It was like a glorified botanic garden experience for us. The Biltmore even viewed from the outside was impressive. - 2026 Midterms ...
