Hey Oil Barons.......
Was down about 1% until noon and then rocketed up 6% in the next hour. From my exhaustive research (i. e. searching tweets for "nat gas") it looks like the 12z Euro weather model that came out mid-day was on the very cold side in regards to this upcoming arctic blast. Also, there was a very large inventory drawdown reported for last week. 13th largest weekly drawdown of all time, to be exact. Lot of predictions that next week's report of this week's drawdown will be in the Top 5.

Hunting 24/25: big bucks and a lot of ducks!
Nevermind. One of the other guys shut everything off right before the last freeze 2 weeks ago. Nobody has been back since, so no trip necessary.

Hunting 24/25: big bucks and a lot of ducks!
Welp, wasn't planning to head to the lease this weekend, but with the hard freeze coming up on Monday, looks like I gotta make a trip after work tomorrow so that I can shut off the water and drain everything so we don't end up with busted plumbing in the camp house. Was hoping somebody else was bringing their kids for final youth weekend, but doesn't sound like it, and since I'm "lease manager" for our group, I drew short straw. Ehh, could be worse, it's only a 2 hour drive, and I'll have a nice quiet evening to myself out by the fire.

This Guy Got Knocked The Fuckkkkk Out
I was a KA at TXST years later and remember seeing Bill's picture on old composite photos at the house and hearing about his death. There's a scholarship in his name that is still awarded every year.

Heights/Garden Oaks/Oak Forest
Heard earlier that Hughies Garden Oaks (actually Independence Heights) should be opening by March. The N Main location is closing down at end of month. Lazybrook original still kicking. New location is basically across Shepherd rom Wabash Feed.

What the fuck is wrong with you, Houston? Non-CR thread
I got stuck in this yesterday. Pulled out of my office garage at 6:07, got home at 7:23. A trip that usually takes me ~15 minutes. Worst traffic I have ever seen on Washington in 6 years of being at this office. There were probably 15K cars trying to take Yale since every other North/South crossing in the area that goes over the tracks was shut down. Those trains are the bane of my existence. Whoever decades ago decided not to put underpass/overpasses where the tracks cross Shepherd/Durham, Heights, and TC Jester should be tarred and feathered. Whenever there's a train stopped on the tracks, Yale is often the only option, and that intersection at Yale and Center is not capable of handling the overflow. I saw dozens of near wrecks yesterday evening.

24/25 Astros Offseason thread
Spring Training starts in a little under 5 weeks. With college football wrapping up and hunting season over, it's getting close to time to switch the ol' brain over to Astros hype mode.

Dumbass Shit We See On Facebook
One of my "why hasn't anyone else thought of this?" ideas is that grocery stores need to sort avocados into 4 bins: Bin 1: Overripe. Sold at a discount. Use for guacamole or avocado spread. Must use immediately. Bin 2: Ripe. Use that same day or the next morning. Bin 3: Almost Ripe. Possibly ready within 24 hours. Perfect in ~36 hours. Bin 4: Far from Ripe. Ready no sooner than 48 hours from now.

2025 Celebrity Death Pool
I'll have you know some very credible, definitely not insane people on Twitter and Facebook inform me that Plaza killed him as a Satanic sacrifice. B/c she is a witch and needed to ascend the hierarchy of the Hollywood Cabal.

2025 Fitness Thread
Feel like I'm officially kicking off healthy January today. Not a drop of booze since Wednesday, but kinda half-assed it in the gym Thursday and Friday and didn't eat great this past weekend. Anyways, no more putting it off. Time to start taking in fewer and burning more calories. Back to full effort in the gym. Coffee for breakfast, light lunches, and healthy dinners.

Hunting 24/25: big bucks and a lot of ducks!
Slow season at our place, which is typical, but we put in a lot more effort this offseason and hunted it more. Guess that's East TX for ya. I shot a basic 8 point back right before Thanksgiving and one guy shot a doe on Opening Day. Frustrating thing is we were seeing plenty of shit on the cameras, including several quality bucks. The kicker was the very solid 8 with a wide spread who showed up on camera at a stand no one was hunting yesterday morning, seemingly to taunt us on the final day of the season. Genuinely baffled that more doe weren't taken, and it wasn't for lack of trying. We could never seem to get our deer on any kind of predictable daytime schedule despite feeding consistently for months. For pretty much the entire month of December, the camera I have set up was rarely ever picking up anything during daylight hours, except on really cold, clear mornings. But a group of mature doe would show up for dinner between 6:30 and 8:30 every evening. Solo bucks would sometimes stroll by after midnight. I think there was just too many other food sources available and they eventually just started avoiding feeders during daylight by the time Thanksgiving rolled around. Even the hogs became vampires. Can't have helped how much the weather bounced around from week to week this season. It'd be cold and clear for a few days and then back to the 70's and foggy, then rain a bunch, then get cold again....etc. My Dad was telling me that a golf buddy of his who processes deer as a side gig said it seemed like a very slow season as far as the amount of meat coming in (at least speaking for SETX).

Winter Weather 2025 - Arctic Blasts or Sweaty Ass?
Hasn't cooled down yet, but it's raining sideways in Houston. Temps should start dropping fairly quickly after this storm passes.

Soup, Stew, Chili, Gumbo (Cold weather eats)
Coldest temps (so far) of the season inbound Sunday evening.

I'm aware of what I need to do, I just need to do it. need to drink less and eat better, in addition to probably doubling my current amount of cardio and adding in some core exercises.

2025 Fitness Thread
Since I started last year's thread, I figured I'd do the honors. Dragging ass a bit this morning after New Years Day festivities, but planning to get in a good sweat in the gym this afternoon and then will have my first sober night's sleep in a while. I'm gonna give it a day or two to let the bloating subside from holiday excesses, so I think I'll wait until Saturday morning to do first weigh-in of the year. Almost Entirely Dry January starts today. Big goal for this year is cutting body fat. Have lifted pretty consistently the past 2 years and added on a significant amount of muscle, but I'm still pretty damn doughy around the abdomen.
