Got back from a 4 day Queretaro trip. Really enjoyed the city. Nice to walk around, has interesting museums and churches plus wineyards (and cheese) outside of town. Cool views of the original aquaducts at night. There are good restaurants but you have to work harder to find them compared to most towns in Mexico. It's not "magical" like San Luis Allende. Queretaro is a big city, so while parts are beautiful, other areas are blah. If you are close to San Antonio, Viva has nonstop flights to Queretaro on some days.
In a previous episode, the locals said they told the settlers to not build in the woods and they did anyway. So all of the town of Derry is within the pillars.
Just like many started watching Better Call Saul, expecting Jimmy to turn into Saul in the first season and were disappointed. Don't expect a quick wrap-up.
That's a sinkhole!?!
We are again falling behind Asia in the sinkhole race. They are doing it faster, deeper and cheaper. The U.S is not investing enough in sinkhole infrastructure. The U.S cannot be competitive in the sinkhole economy until we stop partisan politics and focus on the important issues.
Even Thailand is ahead of the U.S:
Feels like the show runs out of steam in the last two episodes.
Also, Clare Daines acting in this show is comprised of 50% shaking and 50% shocked face
Then you won't get another Predator movie until 2040, when they reboot it.
Look what happened with Furiosa/Mad Max - it made some money but not enough. That's it for Mad Max movies. It's over.
Looks badass.
Getting great reviews. It's currently at 91% on Rotten Tomatoes
If you have ever said "How come they don't make movies like (Predator/Aliens/Dredd/Gladiator/Edge of Tomorrow)", go see this movie. This movie needs to make money so that more awesome actions movies get made.
Review quotes:
"It’s big, it’s bold, and it’s packed with gnarly kills—and it truly wants you to feel every bone-crunching moment in your bones. This is the Predator theatrical experience we’ve been waiting for."
"Rest assured, though: even with the softer rating, Badlands remains every bit as violent as the rest of the franchise."
Sold our house in NW Austin and moved to a higher end condo community. Also love it.
If you go the condo/apt route, make sure it has a strong and involved community. A place with an involved board and residents who care about the place. That also helps with the social gatherings and friendliness.
Construction isn't that good, so you will likely have to deal with repairs the first year.
For me, it's worth it. I'm happy everyday I don't have to fix another broken sprinkler head and someone else deals with the pool.
The trailers for this movie have been horrible.
The first set were "It's quirky! Leo makes a phone call and they hang up on him!"
The next set were wall to wall action.
They will need strong word of mouth to make any money.
That was an interesting take by Khloe's parents. I wish the documentary had dug into it. I agree that it wouldn't seem to benefit them, but at the same time, all of the people in the documentary seem to be starved for attention and entertainment.
Broadband can vary a lot. Anywhere from fiber to the house to an old DSL type connection. Best bet is ask for connection details and speed tests from the landlord
If you want to be in a city, consider Mexico City.
Rent is cheap, food is cheap, tons of entertainment. They have Uber, subways and buses everywhere.
Roundtrip from Austin is 2.5 hours
High of 75F everyday.
I guess I'm still skeptical that we can assume it was a Facebook sanctioned download of data for AI vs. a bunch of Facebook employees. They have 30,000 to 50,000 employees in the timeframe of the downloads. Even when employees know their are being monitored, people still do dumb things.
This feels like the legal equivalent of "Trust me bro"
Is there any proof that Facebook used the porn to train the AI models? My interpretation is that the porn site only knows the IPs.
It seems just as likely that employees were torrenting the porn for personal use.
