I spent probably 6 months there right out of college, auditing a company that owned a ton of RV 'resorts' all over the western US. It's too bad the Steaming Bean is gone. Is Garlic Mike's still around? That used to be the best restaurant in town. Lots of dinners at Mario's and drinks on Thursdays at Timbers.
@Damor how does your kid like Western? Tried to get my son to visit there but he had already visited Ft Lewis and had decided that was the place for him.
Gunnison is a cool town and they have great fishing right there.
Just don't be like my MIL, who is visiting us right now. Every fucking store we go in, she feels the need to tell everyone she talks to that she's from Texas. We can't figure out why she does that.
My youngest is going to Ft Lewis in Durango in the fall. He grew up in CO and wanted a smaller school (knocking out DU/CU/CSU) that had a lot of outdoor options. And he didn't want to be too close to us (Winter Park) that knocked out a few more. But the outdoor programs these schools offer are amazing. Free equipment rentals to go camping or backpacking. Free season pass to Purgatory for freshmen students (they used to also have a free shuttle every weekend but apparently that got cut recently). Free bike and ski tuning equipment to use. He's going a week early for a rafting trip with other students.
And the faculty they can attract because they are in the mountains is impressive.
Kids that don't take advantage are nuts.
Kings are already shut down for the season? Fuck. I'm gonna be in Sitka at the end of July. Good news on Coho, though. And I won't be fishing on Wednesday so I dodged that one, too. Halibut is by far my favorite fish. How are rockfish regs? Have they tightened those up as well?
If that's what they want, go to the next driver's meeting and tell them the next driver to do it gets a 10 second penalty. Don't care for the way they handled it.
Yeah, but that's been a regular occurrence this year. George did it in Canada. Oscar said he did it at other times yesterday without penalty. Just seems like the stewards went from 0-100 real fast on that penalty for something that did not impact anyone's race. And I can't stand Lando, so that's surely influencing how I feel about it.
Just found out from my wife that one of her friends' son was on the jury for this trial. Said the reason the award was so low is there was one holdout that wanted to let him off scott free. Almost resulted in a hung jury but the judge told them to keep going. That was the most he would agree to. Everyone else wanted much higher damages (not that any will ever be paid).
10 seconds for that move was excessive, though, especially since there was no warning, as you mentioned. If you're going to penalize him at all, 5 seconds should have been the max. Instead, they gave the race win to Lando.
I'd pick an area and stay there for the week. There are no wrong choices, but it's a lot of driving to go from Crested Butte to RMNP, for example. There is hiking and fishing everywhere. Crested Butte and Breck are probably more fun to just hang out in than somewhere like Grand Lake.
It's not like I've watched him play for 10 seasons or anything. But keep on asking if he can just be more consistent. I'm sure he'll do it for you guys if you ask nicely.
