Avatar is a such a great band worth checking out if you're not familiar with their work. They've been around since the 2000's but didn't gain attention in the US until the mid 2010's with their Feathers and Flesh album which took the band in a new direction. Their earlier work was strictly heavy with harsh vocals, Feathers and Flesh incorporated a more melodic sound yet loosely retaining a heavy sound. The vocalist can change his voice quicker than the flick of a light switch, he's impressive.
From their Black Waltz album which is arguably their best album you can feel the singer's emotion in this one and this is one of the best portrayals of what Avatar used to be,
This is my favorite Avatar tune also from the Black Waltz album if you didn't know this was a Swedish metal band with the riffs you'd think it was a Southern Metal band.
This is where the band took a huge shift with their sound and in my opinion it was for the better and demonstrates how versatile Jonas can be and that he isn't a one trick pony that can scream.
This one has hints of AC/DC to it and demonstrates Jonas' wide vocal range.
Lastly here we are in the present I feel these two tracks are perfect representations of where Avatar has been and where they're going.
I felt Ohms was innovative and had a fresh, yet familiar sound to it. Their best work? No. Was it a good listen? Yes. Nothing will top White Pony, but Ohms was still a good album.
Can't blame the guy for demanding a trade. They dumped off one of the best receivers for a running back that would be the #2 or 3 back on most teams and Ross Blacklock. Watson has never been protected by a serviceable OL throughout his career and takes a beating. Watson never experienced the luxury of a #1 back that can take pressure off the passing game and BoB's array of deep threat pass catchers went up in smoke.
He took a 3 star clip holder QB in Mac Jones who never saw a meaningful snap behind Hurts/Tua and turned him into a Heisman finalist as a starter in year one. That speaks volumes about his ability to develop players and run an effective offensive scheme to match his player's strengths.
To go into the Phog and spank a team who's only loss was to #1 Gonzaga was huge. KU basketball has dominated Texas basketball for as long as I can remember, that's Shaka's biggest victory since he became coach at Texas. UNC turned out to be pretty meh, but between dominating KU like that and hanging with an extremely tough Villanova team to the end I'd reckon Shaka's squad this year is legit and not fool's gold like past teams that started off hot and faltered in conference play.
Watch the aggy lose to the 4th best team in the ACC, that'll be the cherry on top of the sundae. They thumped their chests endlessly about their marquee victory being a 3 and soon to be 4 loss team. they didn't beat anyone note worthy this season.
