Caitlin Clark …. Seriously
More than that: 4th in 3PM 6th in FT% (Qualfying) 3rd in AST% Her advanced stats are still trash because they were built for men and she turns the ball over way too much but having a fantastic season. She gets her turnovers under control and shoots with better efficiency, she'll eventually be that top 10 player everyone wants her to be (coming seasons, not this year), but IMO she's definitely the ROY right this second but no one should dismiss Reese's season, it's good. Not great, but pretty good and she's getting better too.

Caitlin Clark …. Seriously
Only blemish is the turnovers (5) and it was in a loss to a terrible Mystics squad. Still, those numbers are nasty. I think she was 50% from the field too. On the same day, you get this shit..... Now Angel has been fantastic the whole season but particularly these last two weeks, but this sits poorly with me. Bleh. And the fact the Atlanta defender helps her out? Sorry, that's some crap.

The WNBA is BACK!!!!!
I agree about Reese's game being boring and what casual fans have rejected forever in the women's game. It's under the rim, it's mostly based off instinctual play with a lack of athleticism (in comparison), it's slow, her jump shot is ugly as shit and she misses way more easy shots than she should. For the women's game, she absolutely is a junk yard dog. An elite rebounder and energy player who is a double double machine, but casual fans don't care for it, because she jumps 6 inches to get 90% of her rebounds. It's boring to them. Clark's game is fun (like Steph's), it's fast, it's eye popping. She has a pretty shot and shoots from everywhere although she misses too often. She's a fantastic passer and runs around at a seemingly blurry pace. While her game isn't necessarily athletic either, because it's really quick and fast and has the occasional dribble drive where you can break some ankles. Curry pretty much set up this type of game and now it's translated to a player. I think this is also why you see some backlash to CC's game from some old WNBA heads. How dare you not like our game and then come in here with your new wave opinions and preferences. I get it. Steph's game had the same type of backlash, it was not nearly as prevalent but it was there and folks forget, but it was the future and old NBA heads who were like, "feed the post", you have to "play inside out" and "stop shooting some many 3's" had to either reconsider their stances or just be retired because they didn't get the new NBA..... Same thing here. There are going to be more players like Clark and the WNBA should want that.

It started because Beasley was criticizing CeeDee's workout regime. Beasley has a little too much time on his hands.

A lot of things to like. They hit it at the end..... He's strong at attack. Too many wings/guards have a real problem coming in the NBA who aren't strong at attack and they aren't good at the rim. His handle is better than I thought. He has good vision, you love to see that. Fantastic feet. Just a good player. The one criticism does stick out in a real way. He'll need to alter his shot. It's way too long and comes from a spot too low. He'll be getting up a lot of shots from his forehead. Other thing is I'd like to see him with a better jumpshot -- true jumper from like 15-18. That could make him incredible with his quickness. Good prospect, if he really works at it, he could be a very good player in 3-4 years.

IF they can complete this and get an unprotected 1st or a couple of 1's, then that's some real GM'ing..... Cap space is an asset, use it to weaponize yourself. They've already shown their hand in they want in on the 2025 FA class, so this could be very good.

Caitlin Clark …. Seriously
What's that take? Moronic? What a fucking stupid justification. She should be getting crushed as it's an opinion or reasoning for children. I expect better from her and she should be hearing it from all sides. There's a case for Reese, but this isn't it.

Because it's more fun to throw bullshit at the wall..... Bill at this age without Brady isn't going to be any better than what we have now. He went all in on Mac Jones and we saw how that went. Brady was the reason for the Pats dynasty, not Bill. I can't imagine Bill would ever want to work for Jerry. And before the Mac attack he wanted to trade Brady for Jimmy Garrapalo. Belly seems to have a type.... young, dreamy and shitty at football. And Belly without Brady is a two time HC loser and DC the rest of his life..... I'm not doubting the guy was a great coach in his time, but he'll be 73 next year. No thanks. The oldest HC to win the NFL championship was George Halas. Yes, that Halas, the guy roaming the sideline winning that championship before the Beatles were a thing in the US. Arians was next and guess who his fucking QB was..... Yea, that guy. Check the schedule..... They beat like 2 teams with winning records. And the AFC East was a joke for most of their run. He shouldn't have to..... Why don't you ask the same of Jerrah?

Insecurities..... The Magic have drafted so poorly throughout the years, they're overpaying a year early to a really good young player to show everyone else but really themselves that they don't suck at this thing called the draft. They even overpaid an broken down J Isaac a few days earlier..... but he is their's!!!

Branham and Champagnie. Maybe Keldon if he's moved. Are you under the impression we're an ultra-talented team who need a season to gel?

It’s as random as Chris Paul. DD has generally been a good soldier and decent mentor, Pop likes him, he may only want a 1 year deal and probably would move on. With this front office, I could see it. Ultimately he probably gets more money elsewhere but I can see this.

Uhm...... lol. They do have Gobert too, but still. This is silly.

Caitlin Clark …. Seriously
Yea, she was pretty good for 3 quarters and almost had the first rookie triple double this season. But she was bad in the 4th. Real bad. 0-3 from the field. 1 rebound, 1 turnover. A missed FT when they were trying to put it away (she did make 3). Not exactly clutch. She'll need to get better in 4th quarters to get to the next level but huge win for the Fever.

Not sure who's still out there but they'll need to make another move to appreciably get better next year. Again, they don't have to be championship contenders but you do want them to push for the playoffs.- San Antonio Spurs 2024 Offseason Thread - Edging and Unleashing Wemby's Jumbo Package
Eh..... I mean picks 7 years out aren't really doing much. I guess we save some money, but man the Spurs don't know how to trade.- Caitlin Clark …. Seriously
FTR, I don't think her teammates dislike her either.... but folks can't have it both ways. He team hates her so they don't pass her the ball intentionally and sabotage themselves to the point of losing. And the reason is always..... jealousy!!!! Silliness. These are professionals. Maybe some of that goes on to a degree but her coaches and teammates seem to like or enjoy her fine. She's a wondeful passer. I'd want to play with someone who passes like she does. For whatever the reasons (I think there are several), I don't think she lasts. I admit I don't follow the WNBA coaching carousel so not sure how she's thought of, but I will say while the pace is decent, the WNBA plays an old style of basketball. Very 90's and aughts. Maybe they need their MDA to come in and reimagine the game a bit. Seems like Clark could play an even higher pace. Another thing about Clark. She has great instincts so I expect her to become much better stealing the ball. The women play really loose with the ball. Men do to it seems. That said, she should be playing Euroball when it comes to screening. She moves like 5 feet every time. Good for effort but bad for execution. She's a fantastic passer and her instincts are elite. But, she is loose with her fundamentals (boring!!!). She gets way too many passes into the post or off PNR which are deflected or stolen. She doesn't get great angles when trying to pass in the post. She needs more bounce passes into the post and for pick and pop off screens. She'll learn, but right now a lot of the turnovers are on her. Yes, she's a PG so having a high amount of time with the ball in her hands will add to turnovers, as will her teammates not being used to playing with her (Magic had this issue) and fumbling too many passes, but I'm betting in the tape room, they talk to her about angles, more bounce passes, creating space or passing lanes with leverage to reduce TO's. Still has spectacular vision.- Caitlin Clark …. Seriously
I mean, it was a good game for two sub .500 clubs in the WNBA where every play is below the rim. Expectation wise, it was a good game. Women really have a huge problem with spatial recognition and body dexterity and coordination. It's like a pass from 25 feet or longer is like a fly ball to center field going 425 feet in the sun. It's sort of stunning. And then you wonder why an Olympic coach who has 10 other better players wouldn't necessarily want Clark riding the pine vs Australia. Hmmm..... that is kind of interesting. So her opponents don't like her and now you're saying her own teammates don't like her? Weird. What's the constant in these equations?- San Antonio Spurs 2024 Offseason Thread - Edging and Unleashing Wemby's Jumbo Package
He said it right after he got drafted but in reality, I think he understands its a process. Next season, the goal is to get better all around and make the playoffs, even if it's the play-in game. The year after is when you really want to make a move. There's a bunch of interesting scenarios for the Spurs to look at to get better but realistically, they're like 4 players away from being a true contender.- Caitlin Clark …. Seriously
Laettner earned his spot. He was coming off back to back championships championships and swept every major award that year for best player in college basketball. Shaq was certainly the best potential in teh draft and with his size and quickness, easily the best prospect, but a lot of times big potential doesn't refine until they get to the pros. He was 19-20 years old and he was a beast but his teams never really did much in the tourney. They only won 1 conference championship and were just eliminated in the tourney by and Indiana team who didn't have a guy over 6'9". In retrospect it's easy to bag on Laettner because he was a dick on the court and Shaq went on to become an all-time great. I think most folks would say Shaq was going to have the best pro career too, but in college, it wasn't controversial to say Christian was the best player in college, just like Clark was. And there was one college spot because that is what was negotiated between USA basketball in the NCAA, not because anyone thought Laettner was the 12th best player in the USA. They had to pick one.- Caitlin Clark …. Seriously
Someone will say, but arguably the best PG in the WNBA was Chelsea Gray. She is hurt with a foot injury and may not be able to play. This could be Clark's invitation to take but the issue is Arike Agunbolawe who plays guard and for the Dallas Wings is better than Clark and she didn't make it at guard. Mitch.... c'mon. You're better than this. First, Taurasi is an all-time great for the WNBA, basically like the Lebron or Kobe or Bird of the league. If she wants to go, she goes. Second, now look at the metrics that matter.... You know them. PER, WS, WS/48, TS% and while you're at it, look at that TOV%. Oh wow.- Dallas Cowboys Metathread - Oh No We Suck Again!
Huh? We've already been through this, the salary cap is just an accounting mechanism to try and create equitable spending but it really doesn't account for cash flow or cash spending which is the real cost of doing business. How many times have we watched Roseman of Philly outspend us and somehow get out of owing so much money? Because he understands the rules an can manage the risk a lot better than our dopes. The Jones' ain't poor..... they just spend on their team like they are and then sell the fans on it's the player's who are to blame. Stephen operates like he's a small market team in baseball.... Now, that cash flow will jump in the next 3 years if he does what he's supposed to and pays the big 3. Our front office really sucks at negotiating big contracts and the timing of them.- Caitlin Clark …. Seriously
Fantastic answer. All of it's true. Her time will come. If she improves she may even be a late addition; Chelsea Gray has a foot injury and hasn't played in 9 months. Folks need to take a breath. It's all gonna be okay. She'll get her chances..... maybe some time soon.- San Antonio Spurs 2024 Offseason Thread - Edging and Unleashing Wemby's Jumbo Package
Doubtful. Maybe in the teens, but it was only a partial tear and no other ligaments were reported. It's a minimal as you can get. I haven't seen where they decided on surgery. May just be rest, although I doubt it. Most likely a redshirt year. - San Antonio Spurs 2024 Offseason Thread - Edging and Unleashing Wemby's Jumbo Package
