Texas Football 2025 - Seven Win Steve Rides Again
That's what the standard Australian 17 year old male looks like. That's what happens when your youth is predominantly spent in some combination of drinking/boxing kangaroos/surfing/drinking/dingo wrasslin'. Honesty, this guy looks pretty fucking young for 24 by Australian standards. Fortunately for us the women age much better.

How Is That Chain Still Open?
Ha. Probably true. The only defense I have is that our group of about 8-10 rec sports folks where there 2-3 times a week. Hoo. Did the 2 martini challenge twice, once for a buddy's b-day. Glad we had a DD.

What the fuck is wrong with you, Houston? Non-CR thread
You're moving the goalposts too. There's a fuck ton to DO, but it's hard to match it up compared to a Boston or New York or Chicago to warrant a VISIT over other places. There's plenty of shit TO DO. And that works for Locals. Less so for people to visit to have to drive 30 minutes everywhere to see the Next Thing. Being an attractive Tourist Destination isn't the same thing as THINGS TO DO. Austin has great food, but I'm not sure they're going to be able to take the crown from Houston as long as our Vietnamese and Indian continue to really be huge and vibrant on the food front. But that's just IMO.

Ha. I have friends all over Houston, and family in the Woodlands, and I'm glad my wife and I are on the same page; we don't need square footage nearly as much as we need a 20 minute or less commute to our jobs every day. I just don't know how the hell people do it. I'm going to push as subtly as I can for my kid to go to college out of state.

Agree. And this hits close to home as I had Goode Company Campechana on Wed at lunch. The burbs aren't Houston. That sounds like a them problem, sir.

You specifically said "there's nothing TO visit." Which is horseshit. There's a ton of things to visit. This is categorically different from you now moving the goal posts to say "worthwhile to visit" or "world-class tourism spot." Yeah, because things elsewhere are grouped together easily and there are dozens of other cities where you can get more bang for your buck. That is not the same thing to say as "there's nothing to visit." I drove through New Mexico this summer. There's a lot of things TO visit. But getting to them fucking sucks balls and is a drive. Move the goalposts back to where you had them at the start, chooch.

Houston is a good place to live, make money, and to a degree raise a family. Of course that last one is dropping fast thanks to public education in all of Texas. But most of your post is pretty fair. It's ugly, it's concrete, it's hot, and it's weather is a ball kick. I can't wait to see how installing a generac manages to not solve the problem of whatever the next disaster is going to be...I can't wait to get the fuck out of here when I retire for sure, and a huge driver of that is the weather. The only thing I quibble with is Nothing To Visit. Houston has great museums, and it has the best arts/theater area in the fucking country behind only New York and maybe Chicago, and not just the shit downtown there's great theaters all over Houston. NASA, a shitty ass beach, and most importantly fucking world class cuisine. Everyone just bitches about there being nothing in Houston because you have to fucking DRIVE to get to everything. But it's there, and it's worth visiting. It's just bad for tourists to visit. Locals can enjoy it, however. But there's no arguing from me that it's a better place to live than it is to visit.

How Is That Chain Still Open?
Fun fact, Trudy's implemented the 2 Mexican Martini limit in part because of the rec sports crew rolling in there after intramural games and getting hammered. First it was two mexican martinis, and whatever else. So we'd order one when we got there, have a shit ton of frozens, then get a 2nd one as our last round. Then it quickly become "2 and you're cut off." Ooof. Good times, good times.

What a stupid statement. I live inside the loop, and it's just under 8 miles from my house to Daiken Park. It's a 20 minute drive in rush hour traffic. You're on a UT board, and you accuse everyone in Houston of living in Katy or The Woodlands...which is where the fucking aggies live, you dumb twat. Also, I'm married and have a kid. Who the fuck is driving 30 miles for entertainment period, on a regular basis? I've got about 20 amazing fucking restaurants within 3-5 miles of my house in the greater heights area. And it's maybe an extra 10 minutes to get to any of the amazing restaurants in the River Oaks, Galleria, Spring Branch, or Montrose areas. 15 extra minutes for Rice Village/West U/Museum district. That's every major entertainment district I can get to in about 20 minutes, tops, but about 3-4 of them I can get to in about 10 minutes. You don't know shit about Houston. Also, who gives a fuck if downtown is some kind of attraction or not? I don't give a shit where I go to get my fun. As another poster said, getting in and out fast and easy for sports is great. Other than that, do we get some merit badge that the Michelin Star restaurant is downtown as opposed to in Montrose? Is this like Texas A&M winning online poll for you or something? I've got to tell you, pal, you're clearly following the wrong people on social media. Sawyer Yards is still a thing. I have my office in here. It's still growing and expanding with more art space, some more restaurants, and other entertainment options nearby off Washington.

Fucking Purple Margaritas. Many a night went sideways before it started on old barton springs road. Or by the airport.

You mean other than the fact that a team of coaches, who at this point even @satyanash can admit seem pretty decent at coaching and evaluation, keep moving him up the rotation in the RB room ahead of the season? I mean, either they're now poor at their jobs (the coaching staff) or we're being lied to directly by OTF. In regards to your question, Willis McGahee had a pretty nice career after blowing out his ACL and MCL in the Fiesta Bowl. Adrian Peterson ran for 2k a year after an ACL injury. Jamaal Charles. Saquon Barkley. Guess those guys aren't very well known, though.

I appreciate the strategy you're using here, but you've failed to address in any way the difference between people passionately following something that is perpetually changing and evolving, with ups and downs, versus an emotional investment in something that never changes, over and over again. You don't really address any points, you just sort of continue to insinuate how two things are the same, without addressing any points. It's an often effective move. But I'm not buying it here. I mean, you've implied if not outright admitted you're a college football, but also maybe a disney adult. What else are you going to do, but attempt to normalize your position as one thing, which much of society finds creepy and off-putting, to the other thing people are passionate about here...and attempt to maybe also frame it as creepy and off-putting. Sure, I spend money on these things, but look at all the money other people spend on THIS thing? I guess attempting to frame it as "Listen guys, we're all super weird together" is much better than having to explain how POTENTIALLY the rabid emotional support and financial dedication to this other thing is more than just the lifetime distraction of a stunted person who has never entirely moved on from their childhood, and it is a race to return to that safe space as much and often as possible as they find their regular life overwhelming, and the find safety and comfort in the fact that the rides never change, and the movies never change, and the songs never change, and when they're at a disney park, they're safe. Explaining that could be difficult. Particularly to close-minded psychos like us.
