All Things Brisket
7.5lb prime over hickory. ~14 hours at 225*. This was a very good eatin’ brisket. I’m getting to where I can consistently get the tenderness I’m going for, but still chasing the consistent kamado smoke ring (yeah, yeah, doesn’t add to flavor but I like the look). The slice below is ~pencil width. That’s the bend/pull I like.

Happy Birthday Texas!
- Crawfish Boil - Birthday Party
Is this going to happen at your home? Because no one but me would be cooking for a party at my home. Wife (no pics) may assist with setting out stuff, but outdoor cooking is my domain. 1. Buy proper gear (see suggestions above) 2. Get quality bugs 3. Drink 4. Boil 5. Drink 6. Eat 7. Drink 8. ????? 9. Profit If your wife is insistent, tell her you will have to trade in your man card of you have it catered, but you are willing to consider it for a bj w/ swallow on the front end. After receipt, proceed to step 1 above.- Big Green Egg & Other Ceramic Grills All Encompassing Thread

Per Tecovas: Ostrich: "In general, you may care for your ostrich boots in the same way that you’d care for your smooth leather or calfskin boots." Reptilian Leather: "In general, you may care for your caiman and lizard boots in the same way that you’d care for your calfskin or ostrich boots, except that we would recommend conditioning every month, regardless of the frequency of wear, to avoid leather cracking between scales." Additional info for Lizard/Caiman in the spoiler. https://www.tecovas.com/pages/product-care- Hey Steel Shank!
Left over pot roast? Add cheese, pico, japs, and the appropriate sides.- 2016 Yukon - AC Issue
Wife (no pics) drives a 2015.5 Tahoe purchased May 2015. Replaced battery summer 2018; Internet tells me battery life expectancy in Tahoes is ~3 years. AC unit won’t blow cold as of December 2018. Internet also tells me of massive shitfuckery around AC units on Tahoes and Silverados 2015-2017. Apparently, GM extended warranty repairs on certain vehicles with certain failures, explained here. I’m taking the Tahoe in this Monday for service. I’m gonna hammer as hard as I can - no reason at all why AC should fail after 3.5 years. Still bullshit. Gonna look at the Ford Expedition next time around.- Affordable Watches
This intrigues me. I’ve been looking for a stainless steel band dive watch in the $100-$250 range for some time. Daily wear, active, pool and shower, water sports, would like to take to 120’ diving. Prefer battery (automatic?). The Mako II seems like a contender, but website says it’s only suitable for ‘skindiving’ (snorkeling) despite 200m water resistance rating Where else should I be looking for a watch like this in this price range? Invecta? Citizen?- Group Friend Trip Ideas with Kids Attending
Try Wildcatter Ranch out by Possum Kingdom Lake. For accommodations, they have a bunch of options depending on party size and budget, ranging from a luxurious house to individual cabins to hotel rooms. There are all kinds of activities, some even OK for kids under 5, like feeding the longhorns each morning. Or just chill out with the great views and peaceful grounds. Also, the onsite restaurant is quite good - mesquite grilled steaks and world-class CFS. If not there, I'd look to the Texas coast. Get adjacent beachfront houses in Galveston or Port A. Maybe Condos in South Padre, but that's a haul with little kids from DFW. EDIT: With regard to accommodations at Wildcatter, the house rental is self explanatory. The cabins are arranged in groups of 4, with each group next to each other, so easy congregation during nap time. The hotel is the least glamorous, but it has a TON of communal space within eyeshot of the rooms. There's also a cabin set out from the rest, but it wouldn't work for a group as large as yours.- 2019 Fishing - Bent rods and tight lines
So, DMJ runs different motherships, or there are other charter companies (I’d assume so) going out as well? If other charters, any recs? The protip makes it sound as if there are no guides to take guests out on the tender skiffs to wade / drift sites? I’m having difficulty envisioning what the fishing arrangements are once onsite.- Shit I've Cooked Lately

I finally said screw it - I've wanted a pair of black lizard skin boots for ~25 years, so I pulled the trigger. The Nash in Midnight Lizard. When I pulled them from the packaging, I was pleasantly surprised by how truly beautiful they are. Pic won't do them justice. Tecovas' customer service and pricing makes it too easy. shutupandtakemymoney.jpg. Ordered Tuesday, had them by 10AM Wednesday. Not pictured: the matching belt. The belt isn't as robust as I'd like but it's more than adequate for a dress belt.- 2019 Fishing - Bent rods and tight lines
@Mac8111 @4th and 5 Thanks for sharing, that Chandeleurs trip sounds like a dream trip to me. Any idea if he does split charters? Also, do y’all recommend a specific time of year for reds (I assume fall)? To everyone: on a related note, I’m planning a separate trip to Venice or the surrounding area. I recall that several posters have fished that area. Any recs for guides, accommodations, when to go/not go, etc? We want to target reds, if that matters. TIA.- Cowboy Boots
My ostrich Tecovas (posted here) broke in quickly and have held up well under heavy wear. Love 'em. I recently was looking for a pair of light brown boots, and my wife (no pics) wanted me to try the the suede Tecovas - The Shane in honey suede. I wasn't so sure since I've never owned suede anything, and the online pics of the honey suede made it look more yellow than light brown. But with free returns, why not take a shot? Glad I did - they are sharp and ridiculously comfortable. Internet pics didn't do the color justice. These probably won't, either:- Shit I've Cooked Lately
Hickory. Smoked. Rack. Of. Pork. Not pictured: smoked au ju, scalloped taters, grilled asparagus. For the uninitiated, think pork prime rib. Get these while you can at Costco; I usually only find them during TG, Xmas, and (this year) Easter.- Shit's Borked

I was disappointed with mine. I live in the center of the DFW Metroplex, so I expected decent reception. Basically, only the highest power stations (i.e. top 40, top rap, Nashville country, etc.) came in consistently. AM reception was intermittent at best, and if it could even acquire a HD signal, it would drop it frequently. Went back to factory; still want to look at others that won’t smack my garage door.- I pledge to post more pictures of this STEAK
