Dinner at Babbo was fantastic. No pics. Had the pig's foot milanese and the gnocchi with braised oxtails. Both were delicious. I audibly laughed when the pig's foot came out because it had been pounded thin (what else was I expecting) and looked like Barf's foot after it gets crushed in Spaceballs.
I may never not stay in the village again. Had work downtown and midtown, and it was perfectly situated to get to both in <20 mins.
I would keep going to 110th. There's some cool topography and trails in the north side of the park. Keep in mind that every feature you see in the park is man made. Every outcropping was carved into the bedrock, every babbling brook has a valve somewhere that will shut it off
concur entirely. I just spent a few minutes reading about the movie and seeing the phrase liberatis tutemet ex infera literally sent chills up my spine. I love the whole premise of the movie, the construction of the gravity drive, and the sheer friggin terror of the whole affair. And to have pulled it all off in that twilight period between advanced special effects and full-blown CGI meltdown--standing ovation, slow clap, 100% in for this series if it gets made
My Saeco shit the bed about six months ago and I dropped it off at Espresso RMI in Dallas back in July. Picking it up Friday morning after about $300 in diagnostic and repair costs. I am beyond excite. I've gotten used to not having push-button espresso first thing in the am, but I'm looking forward to getting right back on the horse
Did a quick weekend recently to take some clients to the Houston v. NYCFC game. I have not been since construction turned LGA into worse of a shitshow than its previous incarnation. The shuttle to the cab stand wasn't working, so I somehow managed to find an uber driver that was willing to brave the hellscape for the meager fare to Flushing and crushed an order of Szechuan Wontons at the White Bear on Prince Street. An uber from LGA to the UWS was going to run $70. $13 to flushing, $7 for wontons, and $14 for a LIRR ticket to Penn. Won that round.
Spent some time running the westside greenway and did a 12 mile run in Central Park. Along the way I hopped a citi bike and rode it from 77th and Madison to 39th and 5th in Brooklyn. Nothing like pretending you're Quicksilver Kevin Bacon on a 50lb lumbering beast. Those CVT drivetrains are the bee's knees.
Ate bagels. Drank coffee.
right there with you. Ran an easy 12 in NYC last weekend. Woke up just a little late yesterday, hit the bricks at 7:30 for 13.1, got rained on almost immediately, and then straight to 100+ heat index. Bonked at 10. limped home and called it quits at 12. Somebody remind me why I agreed to a fall marathon
Been digging on You're Wrong About lately. Sounds similar to American Scandal discussed above, which I haven't listened to. Started with Terri Schiavo episode, Lewinsky, Clinton Impeachment, Iran-Contra, and a couple of others. Entertaining stuff.
haven't been in a while, but it was always good when we went. Had a surprisingly good meal at Mastranto's just up studewood from there. Helen in the Heights is always terrific, but not new.
