  1. There are three distinct buckets of possible coaches: 1. Those with multiple head coaching stints - Campbell, Cristobal, etc.. There are reports that CDC wants someone with success at multiple stops. 2. Those with one head coaching job - Fickell, Tom Allen, Bill Napier, etc. Herman and Strong were in this group when we hired them. Fickell seems really impressive, but it's hard to tell if that will translate. Tom Allen's job at Indiana is even more impressive. His record isn't as good, but IU is in the ISU tier of crappy jobs. 3. Those with no head coaching experience - Brent Venables, etc. I don't think CDC is even considering this group. If CDC insists on group 1, Campbell seems the way to go. If you throw in group 2, there's some tough competition. If UM falls through, I wouldn't mind kicking the tires on Campbell, Fickell and Allen. Neither Fickell nor Allen lose to teams they shouldn't. Allen has a slight advantage because he's playing better competition and IU is blowing dominating teams with similar talent and hanging with/beating teams with much better talent.
  2. And he's never lived in Killeen, Odessa, or anywhere in east Texas. I'm not sure what his position is on mayo, Texas beaches, or Fords vs. Chevy's, but that's what we pay CDC for.
  3. How did we make it 230 pages without a Ford vs Chevy debate? Also, anyone who thinks Killeen is the worst town in Texas hasn't spent enough time in east Texas.
  4. My dad says Cooper's in Llano went downhill a few years ago. Though I thought that was because the guy who started Opie's left.
  5. That means you're supposed to shoot it.
  6. S90. I think it's got mayo on it.
  7. BBQ at Opies.
  8. And pie at the Bluebonnet Cafe.
  9. HSB is never quiet during hunting season. And there's no way we put UM up at the HSB Marriot.
  10. He's not. But that doesn't mean he won't be the next coach.
  11. Wait. Has anyone been to Horseshoe Bay? Don't get me wrong, I love the place. My family has a ranch just outside HSB and I've been going there my whole life. And there's no hotel there you'd send a VIP. I'd buy that they are at some mega donor's ranch, but not a hotel. And that looks like every hotel. If you're impressing someone, that's not where you send them.
  12. Not to get all Newy on you - I like wine and I like cinnamon toast crunch - but cinnamon toast crunch and wine sounds disgusting.
  13. Columbus, Ohio. Ohio State's stadium is called the Horseshoe.
  14. I think those are horseshoes.
  15. People who "know" investing don't know shit about fuck when it comes to investing. https://www.ft.com/content/563d61dc-3b70-11ea-a01a-bae547046735
  16. I'm guessing there are lots of virgins on this thread.
  17. In his defense, he's no more full of shit than anyone else.
  18. Comfy? This jet needs to be blowing his dick off. We don't want any more health problems.
  19. You gotta keep up man. It's now EJA664. https://flightaware.com/live/flight/EJA664#flightPageActivityLog On a related note, now I know I need a second monitor in my office for coaching searches.
  20. Only Surly would have competing discussions of private jets, meat grinding, and mayo on a thread about hiring our next coach.
  21. I haven't read the last 10 pages or so, but I'm pretty sure you left out a lot of fisting references. On a different note, can you work out a Surly Amber alert so I can stop checking?
  22. Talking about Campbell's record at ISU is about risk. Nothing is guaranteed, but all things considered, more information is better than less. UM is as close to a sure thing as a coach can be. He can absolutely win a championship here. It would be an anomaly if he didn't at least make the playoff. That's not true of any the other candidates. For them, we have to make a decision based on the information available. Campbell now has 10 years of experience, which makes him a relatively known quantity compared to Fickell or Napier or others with limited experience at a lower tier. Compare that to what we knew about Strong and Herman when they were hired. Campbell has shown he can jump a level and still win (from Toledo to ISU) and that he can win without a stud QB, a senior laden team, etc. He's doing the ISU equivalent of reloading. That doesn't seem all that impressive in terms of wins and losses, but compare that to Saban at MSU.
  23. Weren't the 9.95ers saying for weeks that CDC told Herman he had to win the conference to keep his job?
