The sandwich place was just so-so imo. Go to Tucci's or Bella Donna. The burger place is still top shelf.

    Cobra at Billy’s
  4. The Collin County DA and his top assistant of have been accused of sexual harassment by one of his investigators and three other employees. Here's the pdf of the 75 page federal lawsuit. (H/T to Liberally Lean blog)
  5. MLR has disqualified the Austin and LA rugby teams for the 2033 season, a move that likely means no more professional rugby in Austin for a while. Both teams have been for sale. Players will be dispersed throughout the league in an upcoming draft. Both teams were also disqualified from the playoffs last year for violation of league rules, speculation being violation of salary caps.

I really have nothing to add to this topic other than I had a frito chili pie at Billy's on Burnet today and the cook put the fritos on top of the chili and cheese, which at first pissed me off. But then I ate it and it was all good.

    Hill-Bert's
  8. Their Texas Star Tacos at both the Central and South location (South Lamar outpad in the Ray Hennig's Heart of Texas store) were my introduction to brisket tacos. And they were outstanding. Unfortunately they took them off the menu in the early 90s.
  9. Hattie B’s Hot Chicken is taking over Maria’s Taco Xpress. I don’t know how I feel about any of this anymore.
  10. Do you need reservations at Speakeasy? Taking my 24 year old kid in a few weeks and the Museum and that bar are on our list.

I tried this recently and it's in the running for one of the best burgers in town right now. Just outstanding. Plus, I prefer waffle fries. Don't understandtheir business model at lunch on weekdays (basically dead). But I'll keep going.

Holy shit. That’s like calling targeting in the end zone.

And cricket is a gentlemen’s game, played by gentlemen and watched by hooligans.
  14. Any of you skied Andorra or anywhere else in the Pyrenees? Seems like it would be a great year to ski Europe with the Dollar doing so well. Have done Gstaad and Innsbruck (Stubai)
  15. Guy that owned the Burger Tex on Guad was a member at Onion Creek when I was in the mid 90s and played in the Saturday morning men's group. Great guy. Sucks that it closed down. One of the best burgers in town.

Bill Millers or tried and true KFC [original, not extra crispy). I keep hearing that Randall’s fried chicken is good but the two times I’ve tried it I’ve not been impressed. Austin really needs a Strouds or Eischens.
  17. Is Mason's any good? I've walked by it a time or two and seen very little traffic. Prices seem crazy even for (i) lobster and (ii) downtown.
  18. I disagree with others about Coopers. I think the downtown one is pretty good and the OG in Llano is some of the best BBQ around when it's on. Other places walkable downtown: Roaring Fork. Nothing like a hot kettle of green chile stew when it's 105+ on the sidewalk, but still. Polvo's in the 360 Tower (or whatever they're calling it now). Ranch 616. Haven't been since it reopened but it looks great. Favorite Pizza at 6th and West if you're up for a slice or two for lunch.
  19. I'll get the one at Green Mesquite on occasion. Along with a schooner or two of icy cold Shiner Bock. Sit on the patio and reminisce about WST Bluegrass band. Not a bad way to spend a lunch hour.
  20. Hill’s had both yellow and white gravy during the Cole era. You had to tell them which one you wanted. Never got it with the white.
  21. If you're in Oklahoma, go to Del Rancho for the steak sandwich supreme. Much better than the Sonic version ever was.
  22. I’m sitting on a deck on Lake LBJ drinking Dos X. And sweating. But all and all it’s alright
  23. I mean, I was just being polite and answering the question, @jimmyjazz heh
  24. Anyone know what’s going on to the old Jason’s Deli at the Randall’s anchored center at Bee Cave and Walsh Tarlton? Sign on the door says FC Domain LLC and they’ve applied for a liquor permit.
