Tom "the turtle" Herman [Lame Duck or greatest 5d chess player ever?]
It sucks that the only thing I am interested in is whether we are going to actually fire our coach. Again I won’t say anything about specific players, because I believe it starts at the top, but we have players that choke in the clutch. There are exceptions no doubt. But I find myself more worried than confident no matter what phase of the game we are in. The team seems the same way. I feel bad for Sam that we wasted his time here, he has been a fun story and a good QB. The product around him has been average at best.

So help me count. We have FUCK! Girl, seems like OMG while she hits her head, and now middle finger girl? Lots of influencers coming out of this decade of suck.

He’s gotta be better than Herman. Even if it is a literal pack of hotdogs.

Can we give ourselves the death penalty?

Sloppy, stupid, soft. That is the identity of our program. Infuriating

His longest win streak is 3 right? I don't care enough to look it up, but I swear it is something that pathetic.

He could stay at one of our lovely casitas.

I can confirm that I have sent him a DM through Instagram letting him know how happy I would be if he would coach at Texas. I will report back when he responds.

He's ready to lead Texas
The guy is 2-12 at Texas in games where he has trailed at the half. Just the fact that he has trailed at the half in 14 games in 3+ years is enough. The fact he can't win even 15% of those games says he will never win anything of consequence.

And to hell with the next coach too. From what I've witnessed the last decade, he (or she) will suck too.

Will this nightmare ever end?

Fire Mike Yurcich
Holy shit. I mean I expected this was the case but never expected to hear it was fact. Yurcich will be pulling a Harsin and be outta here ASAP, assuming Tom doesn’t get everyone fired first.

Fire Mike Yurcich
Kick Turtle Tom in the dick and insist on running the actual offense when we have a lead. At least, that's what I would ask of him. I assume he can get close enough to do that.

He's ready to lead Texas
Yeah, the highlighted is probably the true reason I called it out. I live in the southeast, and the idea that "dumb professors are teaching dumber students" is a comment that pisses me off. Especially since I am trying to help my daughter get accepted to an SEC school. The subjectiveness works both ways though, since I would not want my daughter to attend FSU (thankfully she doesn't want to) because I think it is a shitty school in a shitty town. I am shocked that school is ranked as high as it is, so I understand bias. UF and Texas are peers on almost every level except (currently) football. And the Big 12 and SEC are pretty comparable on an academic scale in my mind, with the edge probably going to the SEC. And considering that I personally chose to attend Texas over Rice due to college football, I think that the SEC will likely only improve on their academic standing in the next decade or 2. I'm not sure how this topic wound itself into the "Urban should coach here" thread, but I like to ride the derails.

He's ready to lead Texas
I’ve earned a degree from Texas and UF. Texas used to lead in these rankings but have been passed by UF. UGA, Auburn and Bama are much better schools than they are given credit for. Vandy at 14 vs Texas at 42 is hardly a wash.

Texas/ou game
I had the piss on OU one in the 90s and a Republic of Texas that just had a Longhorn that looked a lot like the one on the far right (classic Banana Republic knock off). I wore mine completely out.

2020 Texas Football Season Thread: Win or GTFO
I was thinking how common this has become for Texas players lately. I mean, Collin Johnson looked All-World against USC as a freshman, Caden Sterns is a pre-season All-American this year based solely on his freshman year. BJ Foster should be All-Conference but can't even start unless he pitches a fit and quits mid game. Ingram showed flashes of potential but has regressed or at least not progressed. Then you look at guys like Okafor that sucked early and is still barely average as a senior. Cade Brewer same thing, he looked like a guy that could be built into something as a freshman and sophomore. But here his is as a senior, and he can't block or catch. Sure we get the Devin Duvernay or LJH that come on the scene as seniors out of nowhere, but where is the natural progression of good to great players, and average to good? Seems like we have been asking that question for what, like a decade or so?

2021 Head Coach Candidate Thread of Pain
I'm about there. I typically check out once we flush the season down the toilet. Seems like Saturday will do it for this season. I may just start checking out before the season. It will be much better for my mental and physical health.

Kenyatta Watson
I think it was Kevin Dunn talking about it yesterday. Saban calls it the "success flu" and says it is extremely contagious. That is why he downplays every win and is furious with every loss. Of course, we are stuck with Herman and his "great practice" Sundays after humiliating losses. But, at least he claims to know how to fix it. So we got that going for us...

That's him. I have a lot of Auburn friends so I watch a lot of their games and had noticed him as a contributor. Hadn't heard the theft news. Obligatory:

I saw your follow up post and realized I was responding to a different question. Winning won't change the students we get, but it will change the cash flow. I mean, if Tom would just win championships we would have the money sitting ready to buy him out (and Shaka). Talk about a Catch 22.

Dammit Tom, I'm gonna miss the shit out of you when you are gone. Come give Daddy a hug.

I'm gonna disagree. Maybe it wouldn't affect us to the extent that it has Bama, but their winning decade has built them a whole new campus. I did senior project evaluations at Bama the last few semesters, and driving around campus, I couldn't believe the amount of stuff that looked brand new or was in the construction process. Since I was doing civil / architectural evals, the profs were more than happy to fill me in on everything that was being built. It was pretty amazing. It was all on the backing of happy as hell donors giving money away left and right. Brand new shit is a good way to attract the best and brightest. Bama is making a hard push to steal kids from TX, GA, and FL, and not just in football.

I actually felt sorry for Brian Jones on Saturday when one of the other halftime analysts asked him what was wrong with his beloved Texas. I don't recall his exact comment, but he looked like he had just watched his dog die and mumbled something about wondering if Texas would ever really be back.
