  1. You put the (sic) after the wrong word in that sentence
  2. I have always thought he was murdered. The idea that anyone with the pull to get him swapped would also let him live is not plausible to me
  3. Sawbonz replied to Pancho's topic in Cloak Room
I guess we will see if it gets through the senate. my hope is it doesn’t
  4. Sawbonz replied to Pancho's topic in Cloak Room
I guess this topic is spread across several threads at this point but with early voting about to commence I thought it would be good to bring it back to the top WRT the SAVE Act I have seen a lot of posts about what it might do, but after looking at the language some of that seems wrong First off in the version that most recently passed the House there is no language that says the surname on the birth certificate has to match that on the government issued photo ID It will not require mass re registration, but could affect voters this November who need to update address. The House version is not likely to pass in the senate. In fact, no version may pass without ending the filibuster What am I missing?
  5. I will say this transcends just racist behavior. By and large you know exactly where you stand with people in the northeast, good or bad. People in the south will shower you with politeness and hospitality, but many of these refined ladies and gentlemen won’t lift a finger to help you when you are in need, and some will stab you in the back first chance they get.
  6. Fair point of course. That doesn’t change the fact that there are statistically fewer mixed race neighborhoods / suburbs / exurbs in the northeast than in Texas. Again I have made the distinction between physical segregation and racism in other posts, but they do go together somewhat. The OR crew I worked mostly with during my fellowship was made up of men; the scrub tech was a white dude and the circulating nurse was a black dude. They liked to call me redneck and give me shit about being from Texas. I asked them one day why all the whites lived in one section of town and all the blacks in another. Neither thought it the least bit strange. In fact they were like the Italians and Portuguese each still had their own neighborhoods as well. This was close to 30 years ago. Shit may be all gentrified by now Don’t sleep on Lumberton. When I was in HS I worked at a restaurant by Parkdale Mall one of the guys I worked with was black guy from Silsbee. One day he had a blowout in Lumberton coming to work and drove on the rim for about 3 miles until he got over the bridge into Beaumont
  7. Demographics are destiny
  8. Im going to have to go with Cornyn. Apparently he is the only one willing to fight to keep us safe from Sharia Law.
  9. But what if it seems too BAD to be true?
  10. Dudes from DC (at least black dudes) will be quick to tell you DC is NOT fucking Baltimore
  11. Well there’s a world class set of tits in season 2. Maybe you can power through to get there and then persevere to S4 E1
  12. I feel like that one is an oldie. Seems like it was on the you got knocked the f out thread.
  13. Unless it has changed in the 25+ years since I lived up there Boston and every decent sized city in MA, CA, and RI are more racially segregated than say Houston, Dallas, and Austin
  14. Too bad kid rock’s dad didn’t
  15. Just start season 4 episode 1 and commit to 3 or 4 episodes. If that doesn't hook you and the season just about break you I will be shocked. ETA I came to the Wire and Sopranos late due to catching random scenes flipping channels. With Sopranos it was the episode with Paulie Christopher and the chechen mobster; almost pissed myself laughing. With the wire it was one of the early season 4 episodes
  16. Watched a few episodes of Mad Men but could not get emotionally invested. Yes everyone smoked back then and the women were constantly sexually harassed in the workplace. Jon Hamm has some dark secret in his past. I don't give a fuck Lost I also could not get into. Is there a monster? is there a time shift or another dimension? Are they a quarter mile through jungle to a 5 star resort? Any of the terminator / alien / predator sequels. Not sure why really. Didn't see them in the theater and just haven't made the time
  17. Yeah about that https://www.politico.com/news/2024/03/28/kentucky-replace-mcconnell-beshear-00149543
  18. Someone probably mentioned this upthread, but I never knew that they lump coaches, seniors, and "contributors" into a single class and only 3 top finalists out of 5 get in. Seems stupid.
  19. About as long as authoritarian cunts have been around
  20. I don’t think I’ve had an HIV+ patient in the past 10 years who had a detectable level of virus in their blood. But fuck science right?
