So speaking of not knowing fuck all⦠I know fuck all about surfing. Iāve never pulled a surfer and Iāve never surfed. And yet, I have a very nice surf boat being delivered shortly. Fortunately, I have at least some experience driving and trailering boats, and Iām very interested in learning. My boat has a pretty complicated surf system that Iāve been reading about on the Internet and will toy with a bunch when the boat arrives. But if anyone has recommendations on great ways to learn more than just what I can find on YouTube and FB groups, please let me know. Also, I donāt have a lot of the equipment Iāll need. I own one very nice surfboard (which I found on the lake) and couple of things for the kids. Iām in the market for a good surf rope, a tube (and rope) , a skimboard, and a hydrofoil. Damn, those hydrofoils are $$$! At the moment Iām looking at just buying those things on Amazon, but I would love a recommendation for a better place to shop and specific brands. Thanks! I was thinking about buying these today: Leader Accessories 3-Person Towable Tube, Front & Back Tow Points https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07SKDFLV6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_VPmzFbKZ1CNNF SWELL Wakesurf 25' Premium Braided Rope with 10" Handle - Wake Surfing Rope https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077GCRPH9/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_CQmzFbF08TBK3 That and my board should get us and the kids off to good start for now. Hydrofoil and skim board on the wish list. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Just signed a purchase agreement. Being delivered from South Carolina... Dog not included, but I already have my own. Anyone have experience shipping a boat? Iām hiring someone through the Centurion dealer, so presumably a reputable professional. Things I should look out for? I figure Iāll get it on my insurance policy before it heads this way. Should I have it wrapped for shipping or is that unnecessary? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I've only gotten one offer for these so far for $300. At that price I think I'll just take the family to the game. Someone wants to beat that, let me know.
Funny-ish story. The guy who made that offer reached me through Craigslist.
He says, "How do I know I'll even get in?"
I say, "Why wouldn't you get in? They're real tickets."
He says, "Well it's only 25% capacity. What if they're full before I get there?"
I have four tickets together for Texas v. UTEP, Section 8, Row 63 plus the purple parking pass. $420 for all of it. Tickets I will transfer electronically, parking pass available for pick up in Westlake or near my office at 2222/Mopac. I can make the electronic ticket transfer right in front of you when I give you the parking pass.
Hereās the view from the seats:

I'm still torn right now. I love the new Centurion Ri245. I've been flirting with placing an order. Got the wife all hot and bothered by letting her sit in one and start making color selections while I picked out the other options. But that's a newly released boat and they don't want to move off the MSRP enough yet to make me happy. A lightly used Centurion Fi23 or Ri237 at >$50k less seems like the smarter play. After a season or two then maybe trade in for someone else's Ri245. Seems like this is the time of year where it starts to become more of a buyer's market on used boats. /crosses fingers
That's the plan. I wonder if that happens right at midnight? I bet they don't disclose the time and I spend the whole damn night hitting refresh on their site.
And mother F'er. Almost as soon as I paid for my passes, I got a $150 promo code for last season's credit. Now I can't reach anyone to have it applied b/c their call center is apparently closed. Sent an email to comments@vailresorts.com, but what are the odds of that not just floating off into the abyss? Slim to none.
We already booked a week at a VRBO in Summit County during Xmas/NYD before the reservations announcement was made. At this point, I plan to just buy Epic passes and then cross my fingers we can reserve all those prime holiday dates when the system opens to reservations in November.
This was just listed yesterday. Not sure I can resist the urge...

What would it cost to have a boat shipped from NW Oregon to Austin?
What if you technically have the cash on hand, but would rather pay a low interest rate on the boat and keep your money invested at a higher rate of return? /mostly rhetorical
Our pontoon, which is a 2016, has cleats at all four corners of the deck, as in docking cleats. Looks like this while youāre running: Far from an ideal set up, but Iām not doing any serious tow sports behind thing anyways. It has a measly 60hp mercury. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
If you're looking for a safe way to get the littles used to standing up behind the boat by themselves, the ski trainer works wonders. It's two skis sewn into a float that's shaped a little like a jet ski. You're don't anchor it to the boat. It comes with rope and ski handle that you hold yourself inside the boat. The float has another handle tied to it. All the kids have to do is stand up and lean back a little with the handle. https://www.ganderoutdoors.com/airhead-ez-ski-100-trainer-317566.html My 5 year old still loves it but I can tell he's ready to graduate. He's trying to make it turn and jumping up and down to catch a few inches of air.
We've also got the kids up on this thing, an inflatable quasi-knee board with handles and a clip on the nose to hang the rope on. The adults can stand up on it. Our kids haven't done that yet, but it's more challenging to stand on that than a board, so I haven't been trying to get them to do it. https://www.amazon.com/ZUP-Kneeboard-Wakeboard-Wakeskate-Wakesurf/dp/B07PGJDQGF?ref_=ws_cp_7ee806de43248bf3cc6a_p_3_t_p And I'm running a pontoon. I just tie the rope to a cleat on the back corner of the boat. I don't have much of a wake anyways, so it's fine. I don't think the Y set up or float is necessary.
Mine are 5 and 7 and your post is a reminder of just how urgent the wake boat purchase really is. I can make more money. I canāt make more time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
My wife also canāt back up a trailer. Thatās my job. She drives the boat up on there, which barring a fleet of drunken idiots blocking the ramp while they wait their turn, is really fairly easy to do. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
You want to watch a massive shit show, go check out the 360 ramp on a Saturday night at 8pm. Drunk idiots who can barely do that shit sober. Add in fuckheads on the water who think they need to idle right in front of the ramps for some reason, and pontoon rental drivers in a huge hurry to get their asses home for the night. It isnāt pleasant. I definitely donāt want my wife and kids caught up in it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
While LBJ is the better lake IMO, Lake Austin is >1 hour closer to downtown, and to my house. You do have to be vigilant about keeping dumbass boaters from tailing you while youāre pulling someone, but on Travis you have to keep your head on a swivel because dumbasses come from all different directions. Both places are probably too busy to be safely pulling people on the weekends after 10am. All the more reason why Iām not willing to trailer it like I do now with my pontoon. I want to be able to come home at 4pm on a weeknight and take the kids out for a few hours, or take the kids out early on a weekend morning and not have to deal with crowds around the ramps at 360. Iām not going to defend their price. And itās the only one that has sat for sale for any length of time, so theyāre definitely high. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The prices make absolutely no sense over here. You can buy a really nice lakehouse most places for the same as what gets you a tear down slip over here, and thatās if you can even find one. Because the market absolutely will bear those insane prices and they sell before anybody even hears about them. This 2M one though is really pushing the limits. Check out this place that is going up soon: https://westharbourlakeaustin.com The slips alone were 500K. They were all purchased immediately upon going on the market. There are just a couple left still pending close. There is a list of over 15 backups. If any of the backups actually get reached, their price is 625K. Not sure what the dues are, but they are obviously substantial. Unfortunately I didnāt hear about this place in time to snatch one up. I donāt need all the amenities, but it wouldāve been worth it anyways. My best hope right now is from a friend of ours who is building on Lake Austin. The lot they bought came with plans which include a two slip dock. If they stick with those plans, they have told us we can rent one of the slips. As soon as they pull the trigger on the plans, I pull the trigger on the boat. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Iāve seen the sticker, Iāve experienced the shock, and Iāve recovered. I live right around the corner from this one: https://www.estately.com/listings/info/4518-rivercrest-dr Thatās way more boat dock than what I need though. I just need a lift and a roof. Iām willing to pay the ridiculous asking prices b/c I figure the value will only go up and Iāll be getting a good return on my investment at some point when Iām ready to let it go. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Iām sold on Centurion. I plan to either put in an order for an Ri245 soon, or buy a very lightly used Ri237. But first I need to find a slip for sale or lease on Lake Austin. Ideally one near Rivercrest. Anyone have any leads on one coming available anytime soon? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
