Serious question. Iāve got a shot at buying one of these 2 at a āreasonableā price. Iām not buying both, but I want one PP for my collection. Any thoughts?
The long lines have more to do with eating at places that donāt take reservations. Just too many great eats to limit yourself to the fancy joints. (That and Iām on per diem vice expense report.) 2 places that I do highly recommend in Osaka (and no rez needed,) Critters Burger in Shinsaibashi. (Get the Wagu Burger.) And Dublin Bay Irish Pub in Namba. Looks, feels and smells like a pub in the old country with not a lick of English to be had. But a great Irish/Japanese Whiskey selection at Lubbock prices. 1000 yen for any shot (7 bucks). That includes winners like Yamazaki 12 or Red Breast 12. Happy hour (5-8 I think) itās 900 a shot. Nice and friendly owners and customers.
Same, same. There a couple days ago and saw debris fencing in place near the rec club/Fairmont. More than 2 months out and they are getting things done! Love that city/state!
Iām totally with you concerning Penang. I always think of it as a low rent Maui (and I mean that in a good way.) Really cool vibe and extremely affordable. I paid 20 Ringett (4.38$) for a haircut a couple weeks ago. And you can get away with dinner for less than that. What part of the island did you stay at? I always say itās the most underrated area in Asia.
WTF? Iām gonna go out on that limb and vote for the commie dictator that oversaw the genocide of 2 million locals. (Like a quarter of the population.) Yea, that will certainly āchange the system.ā
I fly one or two Trans-oceanic round trips/month (usually on AA.) At least 75% of the cat-ranchers (old F/Aās) are worthless/bitter or simply ornery. Probably 50% of the hot (or at least younger) girls have a similar makeup. My dream date on these long flights are the ones who give a s***, and those are the gays. These results seem similar on other US carriers. Probably to a lesser degree on the Euros. The desert folks are solid, but the cream in service are the Asians. Gold star across the board. (And not just because of the weekly weigh-ins.)
Funny, I bought 2 bottles of that stuff in NRT yesterday. Spent about 10 minutes getting my carry-on to close. I donāt think you can get World Five in the states. And itās expensive outside of Japan. (Like 75 dollars in SIN.) Its around 35 dollars at the NRT duty free. One of the true deals at a duty free. (Like Jameson Crested in Dublin.)
Anyone else watching Under the Queens Umbrella? Kind of a Korean House of the Dragon. Iām more than halfway thru the 16 one hour plus episodes and am fascinated. Just seems to get better and better. A must watch for those with a touch of the yellow fever. Only problem I have with the show is that the actress playing the Queen has obviously had some work done. I mean I know the Koreans are big in the plastic surgery world but I donāt think much work was being done a few hundred years ago.
I probably should have clarified, but itās the First Class Sakura JAL Lounge that I frequent. That said, Iāve been over to the peoples side of the lounge and I believe the food and drink menu was the same. Regardless, itās a made to order menu delivered to your table. And the curry is outstanding! (Just insure you hit the boys room before the flight else you will destroy the airplane lav!)
I think KAL is in Terminal 1 at Narita so you might be right. (Last time I was thru there was 6 months or so ago.) If you are going thru Narita on American and then continuing on to HAN on JAL you are in luck. That would be Terminal 2 and itās hopping (at least it was 2 days ago.) I would not know about where to eat as I always go to the JAL lounge and itās outstanding. I would recommend getting Suntory World Whiskey at the duty free in NRT though. (They have been selling it with a free Suntory glass the last couple of months as well.) And as of a month or so ago Japan is pretty much open.
Located inside the Hanoi Sheraton. It most certainly lived up to its rating with the best brunch Iāve ever had in Asia. As a side note the hotel is located on Truc Bach Lake (the lake John McCain was captured in.) They even have a memorial to McCain on the lake.
No restrictions is an understatement. I was in Hanoi last week and the Vietnamese GAF on masks is not much different than Dallas. Iād say the PI is more slack but that would be it in Asia. Really surprised how many folks were maskless in the airport.
