Side note - I only recently realized that the guy playing Barristan Selmy in GoT is also Grandpa Joe on Derry Girls. Mind blown. I was going to ask if we were spoilering stuff but it looks like a no? Wasn't sure if this was a bookfag thread or not. I haven't read the Dunk and Egg books but knew who Egg was by the time this series came out. Seems like they're trying to make it a big plot twist.
Ryan Coogler was on Amy Poehler's podcast and they talked about this. He said twins have always freaked him out, lol, and also he knew MBJ would be up for the challenge.
Streaming on Peacock now so I watched it today. I liked it a lot. It might be Yorgos's most accessible film, as strange as that sounds. Regarding the twist, When I first saw the trailer and saw her shaved head and face looking gross, I had a fleeting thought that she was actually an alien and that they would explain away her appearance with some disease. Then I mostly dispatched of that thought when they shaved her head and covered her in lotion. I didn't pay enough attention to the voltage number so that didn't do it for me, but what I did think was weird was when she reapplied the lotion herself to her face and head. Were the aliens wanting to colonize Earth? Is that what their line of reasoning was behind the whole thing? I don't remember everything she said in her speech about how things went down after they arrived.
It wouldn't have mattered. MAGA writes him off as a crazy antifa leftist. They think everything he says is fake news. You can beat these people over the head with the truth and they'll deny it if they don't want to believe it.
My kids liked The X-Files, but more the monster-of-the-week episodes, especially in the earlier seasons. They didn't care as much about the mythology. Lost was a hit, too. I echo all the other comedies here, but for drama, maybe 24? It's so cheesy but dumb and fun and lots of plot twists and action.
So does being an autonomous territory mean that you are owned and can be sold off like chattel? That seems insane to me. These countries have their own governments, and that can be dismantled without consequence? (And no one come at me with "this administration does what it wants with no regard to the law" - I know that; I'm just wondering how this would be legal in a time when we actually followed the law.)
I don't even understand how we're discussing buying Greenland. Buying it from whom? Denmark? It's a sovereign nation, so could Denmark even sell it if it wanted to?
What @Foosters said. I have two boys, 17 and 13, so it's very real to me, too. But these MAGA assholes who only disagree with Trump when it might make their lives a little more difficult can fuck right off. She and her ilk are the reason we're in this mess so I'm not going to entertain any grumbling from them when things they voted for get real.
Oh shut the fuck up, Megyn. You voted for this shit; your kids should be first in line. "I will not be joining the Fox News cheerleading brigade" because now it could affect me personally. Fuck you.
