Tonightās public info session at the library featured the same people, including me, saying the same shit theyāve said at five other meetings. What a valuable use of taxpayer funds.
ANOTHER public input session scheduled for McKalla. This time, at the Central Library on the evening of July 19. Itās almost like someone is intentionally trying to wear out the supporters. At least this one wonāt go until 4 a.m.
Brandywine developer now out in favor of MLS2ATX.
Finally read the ABJ story about the council vote, and Iām quoted in it, so that makes the whole āstaying until almost 4 a.m.ā thing worthwhile.
Posted about this guy in the soccer thread, but he has a solid platform of:
- Building a dome over the city to keep Californians out
- Giving APD flamethrowers
Iām normally pretty Bernardy when it comes to police issues, but if our civil rights are going to be violated, it should be in spectacular fashion.
Check him out at:

83% of testimony in favor, which mirrors the last poll PSV did. City folks I know seem to think we were good.
When did you register? I was there from 5 pm on, except for a couple hours in the bar at the W with a couple other MLS 2 supporters, an insurance agent buddy, city lobbyists, a local TV personality, and the pedicab driver guy who's running on a platform of putting a dome over the city to keep Californians out and also giving APD flame throwers. He testified against it, but that guy is crazy enough that I love him.
Looks like he tweeted this right after we left.
Yeah, that math is patently absurd. Itās almost like COTA knows that a real pro soccer team and an outdoor music venue in the middle of town would be a serious blow to COTA. Serious enough to AstroTurf some local opposition.
In the end, overwhelming positive response from the populace will carry the day.
Thursday is the big day gang. Positive sounding comments from Flannigan earlier this week about the proposal. Itās time to ignore the folks who never want to get anything done, ever and make a thing happen.
I think itās super interesting that Code NEXT and MLS both have 4-4 voting blocs but they arenāt the same.
For both - Adler, Renteria, Garza
For Code NEXT/anti MLS - Troxclair
For MLS/anti Code NEXT - Tovo
For Code NEXT/? MLS - Flannigan, Casar
?? Both - Kitchen
Anti both - Alter, Pool, Houston
I think Casar is good (b/c PSV will deal with Workers Defense Fund which is his base) and ultimately Flannigan is pro-business. Which is good, because we donāt want to leave this in the hands of Surlyās favorite taxi cab advocate.
A mayor with more political will could twist some arms and make both of these deals happen.
It comes down to Flannigan, Kitchen, Casar just like it did before today. Could be a long night on the 28th. Iām planning to sign up to speak in favor.
