The only regret I have for getting into the Grateful Dead is that I never got to see a “Bid You Goodnight”. I don’t know why but I always wanted to hear it. Maybe it’s from being raised in the COC and liking a cappella.
I have no idea if the guy can coach or not, but I don’t mind the hire.
on that Beautiful Game video posted above….certain seasons just stand out in sports and that was probably my favorite of any of them. The 2005 Longhorns are up there. The 1992 Cowboys are up there. I first went to a Spurs game somewhere around 1976. I watched them get so close so many times only to choke I really didn’t think it would ever happen. But then the stars aligned and everything came together for one of the greatest runs a franchise has ever had. You have to have great players which is an obvious understatement. But you have to have a defining culture to do it for so long and nobody did it better than Pop.
i met him on one occasion. I worked for HEB at their corporate office downtown as a young kid out of high school. Me and a work buddy got VIP tickets to a game that included a pregame meal and QA session with Larry Brown. Well, Larry couldn’t be bothered so he sent one of his lower level assistants…Gregg Popovich. I spent the next hour grilling him because nobody else really wanted to talk to him. I asked him about the “twin towers” as they had just drafted Schintiuz. We talked about the high-low game and how great the rim protection should be. He was as gracious as anybody could be and I’ve always enjoyed thinking back in that day as I watched him captain my beloved hometown sports team to places I never would have imagined. Get yourself right Pop and thank you.
I just rewatched all 3 episodes and I’m even more impressed at the story telling going on. It’s clear that Luthen gave them the good Dr. I love that we leave ep. 6 with a focused Biggs and Andor. I didn’t really catch that Luthen needs something to happen on Gorman the first time. There are so many subtle words in this series that make all the difference. Very rarely does a 2nd season live up to the first, but this may end up actually being better.
JRAD plays the fast songs fast. They are a blast to go see. They occasionally drift a little on the jams, but they are pretty damn good. You’ll be dancing all night!
What a timely bump for this thread. My MIL is 85 and we’ve noticed an abrupt decline in her mental capabilities. We were out of town this weekend and called her as soon as we got back to schedule shopping with her. She didn’t tell us that she had fallen earlier that day. She ended up sitting on her couch for two days without food or water before finally calling a neighbor (she thought she was calling my wife). We got her to the hospital last night and it turns out she has fractures in her hip. We are waiting to hear if she will need surgery or not. We were hoping to make it to the summer before getting her into assisted living, but it looks like our timeline just got accelerated.
