A story about a pathetic man's downfall [34 Felony Convictions]
So in order to "win" we must become the thing that has brought about the need for a battle in the first place? What's the point of that? When thoughtfulness and objectivity are seen as weakness, we have already lost. Winning the right way takes patience, because it takes longer with more frustration and aggravation along the way. I'm an optimist and I'm old enough to take a longer view. Some crazy, scary and disappointing shit has happened, but we're still here. Things are still working more or less the way they are supposed to. Let's keep going.

Oh, I hope that both of those things are true. I'm just saying we can't take that for granted. Otherwise, we are guilty of the same level of fantasy without facts as the Trumptards.

By my count we have six starting pitchers. Only four of those will be on the playoff roster, right? Or would we carry a starting pitcher to come out of the bullpen? Maybe Javier would come out of the pen and Garcia would be the odd man out if the playoffs started today, right?

A story about a pathetic man's downfall [34 Felony Convictions]
I'm trying very hard to remain objective about this whole thing. It's impossible to draw any conclusions about Trump's criminal liability or other categorized wrongdoing based on the information publicly available. We know he had documents he wasn't supposed to have. That's all we know right now. There are a whole lot of other bad facts here and it stinks to high heaven, but unless there was truly sensitive information in there or he was trying to do something illegal with them, like selling state secrets, then this may not be that big of a deal. It would be very similar to Hilary's email thing, in my opinion, if the docs were basically benign and he wasn't doing anything with them.

Best record in the AL and our manager is the worst EVAAARRR. LOL. Fans need to chill out and understand that it's possible that professional baseball people who have been in MLB for decades might know better than them how to manage a baseball team.

Wives and the Stupid Shit They Say/Do
I don't really geek out on TV stuff, so I'm not an expert. If I recall, I was able to watch all of the Longhorns games on Fubo last season except those on LHN.

Oh, she's not. She was watching a show on the TV in the living room and knew that if there was an Astros game on that I would want to change it over to the game. She was passive aggressively telling me not to turn off her show and turn on the Astros game.

Wives and the Stupid Shit They Say/Do
Last night: Wife: "Is there an Astros game tonight?" Me: "Yes. It starts at 7:10. But you can keep watching your show and I'll watch the later innings when you go to bed." Wife: "I thought it would be rained out." Me: "Sweetie, they have a stadium with a retractable roof." Tone.

I'm not really a Jake apologist. I think it's a matter of two things: 1) the baseball pros who are looking at him and evaluating him are using different criteria than we are, and 2) they don't really have an alternative, especially now with Leon being injured. If he doesn't improve then I think they are going to have to roll with Chaz as their every day CF.

The GQP: Trumpist Death Cult
Yeah, I mean, what will he have to lose at that point? We saw what he was willing to do rather than face the election loss. What's he going to resort to if he stands to lose all of his wealth and his freedom?

I thought so too. There could be some disagreement between LMJ and the front office/coaching staff about when he's ready. LMJ's comments certainly seemed to suggest that he felt good and is ready to be back with the Astros yesterday. It could also just have been a canned response about wanting to get back to help the team win, yadda, yadda, yadda.- 2022 Houston Astros Thread
Listened to James Click interview this morning on 790. They are going to let Jake Meyers play through it. They are seeing some deeper indicators (other than BA, etc.) that suggest he is making progress. On LMJ, he said they are on day 18 or 19 of 30 he can be in the minors. He will get 1 or 2 more rehab starts. They are not looking at ERA or Ks or BBs to tell them when he's ready. A lot of the decision is the feedback from LMJ himself on how he's feeling. - 2022 Houston Astros Thread
