Although it doesn't seem like something Tony Gilroy is interested in doing, it would be freaking glorious to have live action Thrawn and members of the Phoenix cell make appearances in Andor Season 2.
It certainly seems the timeline will directly overlap with this:
Yes it is.
But the interesting thing is these things were there from the very beginning.
Just in the ANH the Empire does the following:
Kills basically the entire crew of Tantive IV looking for the DS plans.
Kills Luke's Aunt and Uncle and an entire transport of Jawas in the process of just looking for a couple of droids.
Kidnaps, tortures and plans to execute a member of the Imperial Senate without any sort of a trial or hearing because she was/is a suspected Rebel.
Oh yeah - they literally destroy an entire planet and kill billions of people as an interrogation technique.
So yeah, those fuckers have always been ruthless and brutal, we just have (mostly) never seen their brutality so personally on the "ground level" like we do in Andor.
Yeah and speaking of the Separatists, both this show and the Count Dooku episodes of Tales of the Jedi are sort of re-framing the Separatists (or at least pieces of it) as sort of a proto-Rebellion.
Excellent. Can't wait to check it out later.
Another interesting thing I just noticed listening to the new stereo mix on Apple Music - I think they messed with the backwards guitar parts on "I'm Only Sleeping" again didn't they?
I remember there were a few differences in the original stereo and mono mixes... specifically there was no backwards guitar part when John sings, "Lyin' there and staring at the celling..." in the original stereo mix but there was on the mono mix.
They took it out again for the new stereo mix. I had to listen a few times to make sure I wasn't hearing things (or not hearing things) in my head, lol.
That's interesting.
Do you have the 2014 mono remaster?
I've had that on vinyl for several years and I'm curious if there is any discernable difference between this new mono remaster and the 2014 version; didn't know if this version was pressed from the same master as the 2014 version if they created a new mono master...?
This discussion just underscores how fucking good the writing is on this show.
Pretty much everyone is operating in shades of gray and they all think they are doing the right thing.
The internal politics of both the nascent Rebellion and the Empire/ISB has been so damn entertaining to watch.
Yeah IIRC in Rebels also.
I kind of a remember a storyline in Rebels of how they were able to get their hands on the X-Wings, but don't recall specifically. Early on all they had were old, Republic-era Y-Wings.
Yeah we lost and it sucked.
I guess I could follow the example of some and be a whiny pussy about it, or I could chose to take the L and move on.
I think I'll do the latter.
Right, but I always thought of it as akin to fair catch... Meaning it's not so much that you are "defenseless", more so you are giving up your right to advance the ball any further in exchange for not being hit, thus they spot the ball where you *start* the process of the slide.
So you can't blast a receiver who is signaling for a fair catch for the same reason - because he's telling you he isn't going to advance the ball.
Yeah it's kind of weird, but why has this really just become an issue this year? QBs have been sliding forever in the open field, but it feels like all of a sudden there's a rash of defenders clobbering QBs as they are sliding....?
Like I don't remember this being an issue at all until dipshit Kenny Pickett did his fake slide, but then they made that illegal like the next week, so it can't be that...?
Something else that I noticed after the last episode after I randomly re-watched one of the Andor trailers.
When Vel and Cinta were talking, Cinta mentioned something about "running away from a rich family" as a sort of "dig" on Vel.
And I'll put what I noticed in the trailer in spoilers just in case... I mean it was in the trailer, but if you haven't watched in a while you probably don't remember/missed it:
Yeah that gave me the smiles.
He looked a little different because his head was shaved in R1, but definitely was him. Very cool.
And yeah that episode was just fantastic.
Serkes was great. Forrest was great. Stellan was great.
Just a great fucking show all the way around.
Not very often.
We were flagged 3, 4, and 5 times in our first three Big 12 games and twice in the Texas game, so two fewer than our 3-game conference average.
Going into the Texas game we led the Big 12 in fewest penalties and were second in the nation (behind Georgia) in fewest among P5 schools.
I'm smoking weed, but that's besides the point.
It depends what you mean by "nothing wrong."
Texas certainly got hosed by several bad calls in that game, just like every other team gets hosed by multiple bad calls in games from time to time. It's happened to OSU more times than I can count.
But there was "nothing wrong" in that there was no conspiracy by the Big 12, the refs or anyone else. Conspiracy theories about refs is just something fans whine about on message boards. The idea that something like that would go on in the real world is frankly, hysterical, when the very, very simple explanation is that college officials are roundly awful all the time.
I mean, fuck; the very next year we literally had a ref crew improperly give Central Michigan an untimed down against us at the end of a game that allowed them to win on a Hail Mary. That's not just making a bad judgement call on holding or whatever, that's an entire officiating crew that didn't know the fucking rules and gave the other team another play when the game was over. But I guess someone paid them off or whatever... yeah...that's it. That's the only possible explanation... not gross incompetence or anything...
Sure.
But I watch a lot of college football games. I see terrible, inconsistent officiating in practically every one of them. Did you watch Clemson/Syracuse? There were two completely terrible/inconsistent roughing the QB calls in that game that basically tilted it in favor of Clemson. I’m sure all of the Syracuse message boards today are talking about how the refs are in the tank for Clemson, have a bias, blah, blah, blah.
I’ve heard/read this exact same song and dance from OSU fans when we end up on the shit end of it.
There’s no bias. There’s just terrible officiating every week and sometimes it bites you and sometimes it doesn’t. You just don’t think about it/notice it when it’s not negatively impacting you. Classic confirmation bias.
I do know this - getting 8 (!) procedure/offsides calls is something that is directly in a team’s control. It literally has nothing to do with any ref “bias.”
So I would tend to be more upset about that.
The first part of your statement is right on. Eight of the 14 penalties were either offsides or procedure. Texas was flagged 6 times on “judgement calls” like holding and PI. OSU had zero procedure penalties and was flagged twice for judgment calls (both offensive holding) that were declined.
So it was 6-to-2 on “judgement” flags, which favors OSU but isn’t outlandish. If I were you all, I’d be more upset about 8 procedure type penalties. Those are purely on player discipline.
