Washington vs Michigan, CFP Championship -- Jan. 8th ESPN 6:30p CT
Michigan somehow pulled USC, Oregon, and Washington on their schedule next year in addition to us and Ohio St. I presume Washington and USC are probably down, but that is going to be a gauntlet Will test how deep they really are + recruiting presuming they lose 12-15 players to draft and Harbaugh Oregon pulled both Michigan and Ohio St. UCLA misses both. With these unbalanced schedules, I think making 12 team playoff has almost as much to do with who you hit in conference as anything. UT and Aggy need to take full advantage next year because the SEC schedule isn’t going to get any easier. Separately, and this is another discussion for another thread, how many years until a team rests guys Thanksgiving weekend or even in the CCG game NFL week 18 style, to avoid injury for playoff? Last year was fluky so not a perfect example, but if Big XII CCG was the last game played and results were known, why would TCU want to risk injury if they are still top 4 with a loss? I imagine that in that scenario the committee makes Bama 4 and TCU 5. That’s also why 16 teams would have been a real problem. At least with 4 teams getting byes there ought to be a lot to play for everyone. But the scenario will bubble up one year for a team locked into too 4 or 8-12 range.

FAFO movies/tv
Do all the Buford Pusser/Walking Talk/Roadhouse rich guy runs a town but FAFOs with the new badass in town count? Also, for the six degrees of Kevin Bacon, Death Sentence (underrated flick), and, I guess, Wild Things?

Bill Ackman
Ackman tripled down on the de-SPAC market and basically laughed at anyone that questioned whether it was really a viable long term route that was superior to underwritten IPOs. Then he had to unwind the Pershing Tontine. I am not going to say the guy is dumb. He obviously is very smart. But his hubris is of fucking Greek tragedy proportions.

Washington vs Michigan, CFP Championship -- Jan. 8th ESPN 6:30p CT
I mean, seriously, I don’t get any UT fan that doesn’t have Michigan ties rooting for Michigan tonight. Penix was a wizard last week and we win if he played like he did tonight. Fuck Jim Harbaugh. I can’t wait for the hammer to drop on Michigan after Harbaugh has jetted off to Vegas in a month. I hope we Michele them in September.

Texas Football Roster 2024 -- "You never lose a game if the opponent doesn’t score" DKR
Watts did well for us but I am ready to see what is next. He has the size to potentially have a nice NFL career but I felt like more often than not he lost 50/50 balls and was just not quite good enough to make the big play. He rarely got burnt outright but he always just seemed a step slow and was a half second away from stopping the big play that just happened.

Burgers
Not going to read upthread, but my two favorite go-tos right now are the burger at PH Brewery on Ben White and the one at Bill's Oyster on 3rd. They both have to be just steeped with butter or something, but both are really well done smash burgers.

CFP Semifinal: Texas vs Washington - 7:45pm on ESPN
Just got back to hotel. I am not reading the rest of this thread. We lost because….. - We put it on ground twice. We do it just once and we win, I think. - Sark thought he had possessions to fuck around on in first half. Then he shat bed once we had chance to win at end. - Sweat was held throughout the game with no calls. Absolutely infuriating. We were never stopping that passing game. But we could have kept it away from them more effectively. they are going to smoke Michigan.

A story about a pathetic man's downfall [34 Felony Convictions]
I could give a shit about his followers. It’s the non-voter that thinks none of it matters that need a wake up call. 35% of the populace is fucked. There is 20% that is combo apathetic or can’t vote D even if they hate Trump that needs to be targeted.

2023 Fuck Fantasy Football
In my fantasy final. Hopeful Stroud can play because he and Dell got me to this point and I eked it out in semis without them and with Mullen. Anyway, need to play two of Singletary (HOU), Warren (PIT), Gabe Davis (Buff), Jav. Williams (Den). Everything points to Singletary and Warren, but I benched Davis last week and nearly paid for it (Justin Tucker saved my ass -- was down 12 heading into that last game). And for some reason, not sure about Singletary. Thoughts?

A story about a pathetic man's downfall [34 Felony Convictions]
I'll repeat -- he needs to be asked if he understands he can only serve for one term. Anything but a quick "of course" should be put on repeat for anyone that has any doubts as to his intentions.

2023-24 Houston Rockets Thread - Climbing out of the Gutter?
I was fucking around with a trade machine..... how about this three teamer which it accepted (and you guys balance with the draft picks to make it work -- I think Cleveland probably gets some) Rockets get: Donovan Mitchell, Myles Turner Cavs get: Buddy Hield, Jalen Green, and picks Pacers get: Fred VanVleet and Jock Landale and picks This requires that Pacers and Cavs have decided they are toast this season, and I think they say "no" anyway, but I was stunned this got through the algorithm. Edited to add..... Cavs absolutely say "no" here unless they want to reboot again, tank, and hope they can pair a top 3 pick with healthy Mobley and rehabilitated Green.

What does college football look like in 20 years?
This. Then NFL panics because it’s subsidized minor league is threatened. So it has to act. There will be 30-60 minor league teams governed by NFL similar to G league but leveraging the current college football infrastructure. The schools and NFL come up with a revenue share to allow teams to use college names and stadiums, practice facilities etc. Student athlete idea is mostly gone but so is safety net for players. Recruiting stays same but it’s totally for profit for everyone.
