  1. Check the date. I hope so, anyways...
  2. To make things more interesting, there are currently at least 3 (and up to 7) B-2 bombers that have been staged to Diego Garcia, away from the US base where they normally are based. There are 3 aircraft visible in satellite photos, parked right next to the 4 special purpose hangars built for the B-2, which might well also have a B-2 inside right now. Apparently, as they were flying out that way, the B-2 were communicating on open frequencies, so people could identify the call signs as B-2 aircraft. Not sure if that is typical or not, but aircraft nerds or such managed to pick up at least 5 call signs for B-2 aircraft, one of which had to make an emergency landing at Pearl Harbor.
  3. I have only been to Quito and the mountains, so I don't know about Guayaquil particularly, but based on my experience in the country: An amazing variety of fruits. Breakfast may include both the fruit directly and juices. Some familiar, some you have never heard of. Besides breakfast, there was a great variety of fruit flavored ice cream. I wish I had tried a lot more of those, both for the variety, and also the names were often different than I was used to. E.g. strawberry was fruitilla not fresa.
  4. No, they will say that Tesla is the only American auto maker.
  5. To make sure that you have a memorable encounter with these magnificent sneks, for only about $10K you can get a spot on a scuba diving trip to swim with them and get a nice close up view. https://www.bigfishexpeditions.com/trips/scuba-diving/anacondas/
  6. (The?) one good thing about private equity is that they specifically do NOT care about quarterly figures to keep Wall Street shareholders happy (because there are not any of them). There are plenty of problems with private equity but blaming them for the short-term thinking that the stock market encourages is definitely not one of them.

The German 'Die' is pronounced DEE, not DYE. Fwiw since this apparently has nothing to do with the band name

I just discovered this creature is correctly spelled as helicoprion and it is indeed awesome. The doomlet is on to something...
  9. That is basically the entire job description for the board. But if they are all in the CEO's pocket, then...

'How to lucid dream' with 'Sleep paralysis demon' seems like something you could work with. Possibly involving mysteriously non-rotting gourds.
  11. It has to be better than his voice.
  12. I have bought a tiny bit. There is one specific design of the US proof platinum coin that I like, and I have the 1/10, 1/4, and 1/2 ounce already, and I might get the 1 ounce if I can find it for sale not too much over spot. And I kind of want to get some platinum wire for science experiments. I don't think it would be a good investment, but the price of platinum seems very reasonable now, so if there is something you want that is platinum, now is a good time to get it. I expect that I would get a bad deal if I ever tried to sell it though.
  13. I think that the exact size of this asteroid is still not known well, so we don't know how much of an impact it will make yet. The estimates are based on how bright the asteroid is, and then if you assume that it is made of stuff that is of 'average brightness', then you can figure out how big the asteroid must be to be as bright as it is. The problem, is that there is no certainty that it is made of average material, so it could be smaller (good) or larger (bad) than the estimates. I think the JWST observations are expected to improve this measurement as well.
  14. They are going to track it with the James Webb Space Telescope to get a better measurement of its exact orbit. The reason that the probability is not either 0% or 100% is because the orbit is not known precisely enough. Whether it will hit or not is already completely determined, we just don't know the answer yet. But a very good orbit determination will hopefully settle it.
  15. Jalen Hurts scored 3 two years ago, that was the first.
  16. Since USPS is now holding packages from China, how do I get my Temu stuff now???
  17. Even if that part was true, why would you think that would translate at all into wanting to be annexed by a foreign nation?
  18. They already have a zipline, so you could just arrange for his harness to be disconnected, and drop him into the ponds.
  19. I saw somewhere else that it was stopping for fuel in Springfield MO, and the final destination was Tijuana.
  20. Wasn't the ValueJet crash into the Everglades the result of something going wrong with some oxygen cylinders? My memory was that that aircraft was carrying some as cargo, and something went wrong with them.
  21. Well, that would be something good that comes out of this.
  22. https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/vw-van-palisades-fire/ Tis true.
  23. These two links claim it was an SM-2 missile that took the F/A-18 down. https://theaviationist.com/2024/12/22/u-s-super-hornet-shot-down-in-friendly-fire-over-red-sea/ https://armyrecognition.com/news/aerospace-news/2024/analysis-of-friendly-fire-in-todays-military-f-a-18-fighter-jet-incident-and-the-limits-of-modern-technology
  24. Yeah, I can do without this. Its not really good to breathe, and the smoke gets trapped in the stadium bowl. There is usually plenty of incidental smoke from fireworks already. I do really like the colored lighting that we can do now. The orange looks really weird, being the opposite of green, but it seems disorienting so its a good thing to inflict on our opponents.
  25. The concourse does get dangerously crowded, they do need to do something about that. It seemed extra bad this game. The concourses have not been expanded for forever but there are more seats and there is more stuff in the concourse blocking the way and it gets impossible to move. That bathroom does have issues, it also had standing water like that after the Florida game. I had not noticed it being extra nasty before this season. Dabo as Grinch was great, as was the disclaimer before the Clemson video. Too bad they didn't find any highlights of Clemson vs OU or A&M or they could have got a cheer, that would have been funny.
