  1. Literally listen to nothing greenspoint just said. Holy shit. From an actual valley native: Nana’s is a tourist trap. Not amazing, not terrible. Better lonches can be found in Weslaco at El Compallito. But my favorite restaurant there is still Sunrise. Or Eddie’s Drive thru. I don’t eat BBQ really, no recs there. In McAllen, Republic of the Rio Grande and University Drafthouse are musts. Great variety of food. In Harlingen (my homeland), Coletti’s is one of the best Italian places in the state. No joke. Vegas Cafe is a staple there for lunch/dinner but it used to be a big breakfast stop. Now the place for breakfast there is Blanquita’s. Pepe’s is great for Mexican food too. “No good cocktail bars” L-O- fucking L. Suerte in Mcallen? La Cantina in Weslaco? Oak in Weslaco? Station 1 in Harlingen? What is wrong with you? And lastly: if you want to really catch the valley vibes, go to an Applebees, Texas Roadhouse, Chilis, etc on a friday night. They are packed to the brim, everyone gathers there to drink and unwind after the week. I am being 100% serious, the locals down there go to chains over local places by a lot. The atmospheres are always great. *botana, guero
  2. As a kid I distinctly remember asking my sister to ask my mom to take us to see Ice Princess because of her. I was not disappointed.
  3. Is there a Maryland senator or something funding recruiting sites? The number of 5 stars out of DC/Maryland has been ridiculous lately. Every last one of them a massive bust besides Caleb Williams (Nyck Harbor and Rakim Jarrett LOL).
  4. You sound like a massive pussy. Gary recorded a whopping 40 homicides last year. Years of steep population decline has eventually brought on a decreasing violent crime trend over the past 5 or so years.

That’s “wait on it”. Stay back is about making sure your hands are the last part of your swing coming through the zone.

Lol at an Astro fan being one of the two people to get the question wrong
  7. TIL Prince Fielder had more career inside the park homers than Rickey Henderson.
  8. Guess I need to adjust my MLB expectations to the college game some still
  9. First time baseball fan? No team is getting through a season with their worst hitter being a .250 hitter. Maybe .210 or so.
  10. Lol at giving up on Mendoza after 2 games. Ride it out with him at 2nd. He was an elite prospect for a reason
  11. Milchik shortening his critique down to “grow up” in the mirror was unsettling
  12. Early 1990s. His name was Miguel Venegas, when he was 16, he and 17 year old Miguel Martinez broke into the house of 41 year old James Smiley. There are rumors that Smiley had previously molested Martinez. Venegas was just a crazy person, believing he was the son of the devil, etc. He found an axe in the house and murdered Smiley and two 14 year old boys from Mexico who were sleeping over at Smiley’s house that night with it (so yes he probably was a child molester). Venegas somehow got a 41 year sentence. Martinez got the death penalty, one of the youngest to ever get it in the state, even though he didn’t commit the axe murder portion. His sentence was later commuted to life in prison. The episode was called “Sympathy for the Devil”, season 1.
  13. That was shocking to read this morning. Complete slap in the face to over 100 years of yankee lineage. Guess all the kids that look up to the players now know it’s ok to not give a shit about your appearance and how you carry yourself.
  14. What? It’s 100% entertainment driven
  15. While playing for Cleveland in 1919 Ray Caldwell was struck by lightning on the mound, got knocked out, woke up, and still finished pitching the fucking inning. And now we cancel and reschedule games because it’s below 40 degrees.
  16. Petito doc was a sad watch. The Moab bodycam was especially tough to see, how scared she was, how she kept blaming herself and how she was afraid to be away from him still. Crazy how he was mostly unemployed that whole time and she got a job at dominos so they could buy the van. Dude was an all-around loser.
  17. Lol. $50 is on the cheaper end. Most Dodger ST tickets are over $100 for example.
  18. Ive seriously only ever heard horrificIy negative things about gristmill. It sounds like the oasis in Austin in terms of service and food quality
  19. You sound like a fun person.
  20. They’re the only major pro sports organization in the world that has never had a last name appear on any variation of a jersey. Seriously. They also actually did invent numbers on jerseys as well.
  21. The rule is no hair below the lower lip. Hence Austin Wells’ mustache currently. Other teams can have their players looking like unemployable bums but that doesn’t fly with the Yankees, and I would hope Texas doesn’t abandon it ever either.
  22. The best part of ST is seeing if the prospects you’ve been following can hold their own at that level. I creamed myself when George Lombard Jr homered last spring
  23. This. The Yankees set the standards for both (no names on jerseys ever and no facial or long hair). It’s a tradition that should be expanded on throughout the sport. No individual is above the team, and you represent the team with class and respect. Kids look up to these players, and as a man there’s nothing “respectful” about having hair down to your neck or a beard. You should take pride in your appearance.
  24. Same teams every year. Go to Arizona though, all the spring training sites are right next to each other in Phoenix. In Florida they are spread across the entire state.
  25. The best one was way back in season 1, with the axe murderer guy from Laredo. To this day the most genuine killer they have interviewed. He was a genuine psycho but he made no qualms about it.
