What kind of locker room would Traylor have? Didn't Jimbo allow the inmates to run the asylum? No matter who they hire, it will be better for us if they don't overachieve in the first year, and the best way for that to happen would be for a bunch of guys to portal out because the new coach is a disciplinarian.
How upset would you be if when teams start going HUNH on us with our backups in and get a couple first downs, if one of our players had a cramp or the wind knocked out of them and needed an injury timeout?
The flip side is if you end up taking one of those after a month of having no head coach, has half the players portaled out and the recruiting class fallen apart? The firings are happening ealier because you need to get the new guy in their earlier.
How often are we in a coverage where we have 2 deep safeties that have no other responsibilities than a half field zone? Wouldn't you want some protection if you were going to have your CBs press at the LOS? Don't we usually have our safeties picking up slots/TEs? I mean we could keep our safeties in deep zone, but then we would need our LB/NB to man up inside receivers, which might not be a good idea (I mean LBs, Barron would be fine) and could also affect the run defense.
I applauded the coaching continuity Sark has had so far, but if you were looking at it from a cutting the bottom 10% of performers each year, Joseph/Gideon would be the candidates. Even just asking "is this position group championship level" would still point to the DBs as the biggest liability.
Since the Briles offense is based on simple reads and counting the box, I'm interested to see if we show some light boxes that would trigger a run and then take our chances with our D-line and Ford.
Am I mistaken, or did we see wristbands for the offense in the OU game? I swear I saw them and took note, because when I think of wristbands I think of near the end of the Charlie Strong years when that was the solution to the defense being dogshit.
I don't think I've ever seen Quinn throw it as hard as he can. Arm strength isn't about how fast the ball is going. Being able to throw the ball 40 yards with minimal effort is different than having to put your entire body into it.
Anyone want to discuss the pros and cons of going to a 3 DL defense against mobile quarterbacks? Coach Erwin on the IT youtube videos has been mentioning it.
My understanding is you would be giving up the chance at edge pressure, and would have to be careful about setting the edge against the run, but you could prevent interior gaps for the QB to scramble through, and have a LB close behind the LOS to clean things up in case he did.
I might be confused with what you are trying to say, but it is still the Cockrell school of engineering. They just changed the name of the Civil engineering department.
