After reading Destiny of the Republic I had high hopes for Death by Lightning but was disappointed. The Giteau character was campy and the dialogue was really dumb. Nobody talked like these people in the late 1800s. Fucking this and fucking that. Just dumb and contrived.
On the other hand that book, or really anything by Candice Millard is money.
Honestly think if you put pre-injury Jonathan Brooks at RB we win it all last year easily. Not enough ability to gash middle which requires ability to break tackles.
I bet Louisiana leads every state in per capita great players. Maybe by a lot. And LSU has a stranglehold on most of it. Certainly under threat in the NIL world though
This. But you have highly paid AD who won’t take a chance. It’s why Hollywood only makes sequels and superhero movies now. Most people that start making a lot of money start getting really conservative. Creates a ton of opportunity for other people with big balls.
Jerk doesn’t begin to describe this piece of shit. Google the Prince Shembo sexual assault case at ND. Kelly covered it all up and girl committed suicide. Kelly and ND didn’t give a shit.
And when you’re done with that look at James Franklin coverup of rape at Vanderbilt by football players. You’ll need a shower
Nothing new in hockey. Some of these guys wear everyone out. Mike Keenan coached 8 teams over 25 years. Took a great Rangers team and Messier to get him a Cup.
Feels like if Sanders’ dad was Joe Sanders the plumber who didn’t do social media he might have been drafted by now.
Live by the nepotism die by the nepotism
Re: the Diboll interview I watched the Hard Knocks deal on NY Giants when they were looking at QB last years draft.
Jaden Daniels is sitting by whiteboard and Diboll gives him some uber verbose play call. Daniels repeats it verbatim, draws it on the board and answers a few questions about what everyone does. He sits down and Diboll chats him up about his family etc for a few minutes. Then he asks him to repeat the play call and Daniels does so flawlessly. It was damn impressive.
And besides the obvious talent difference there’s your contrast with Sanders.
Was watching Gundlach yesterday. I know he talks his book like they all do but still worth a watch. He thinks there is some serious deleveraging in bond market and we go lower. He thought equities 4500.
I could see that easily. Overdue for recession and we are in midst of federal belt tightening (?). Powell isn’t going to rescue anybody right now. Stocks still rich. Don’t think this is over yet but certainly not a calamity.
Great and relevant question. I haven’t dug in detail but also interested in what is replacing what and what kind of duration Treasury has in mind for new issues. Of course the market dictates. Chaos creates a flight to safety driving down treasury yields and finance costs across the board. I maintain that is the “logic” of what the administration is trying to do.
I also get the substantial downside potential of bullying people into line. Lotta in lotta outs…
But net is that 10 year now has a 3 handle and that is a big deal. People need to listen to Bessent. I don’t think he is being coy about intent.
He's a fucking crypto bro. Definitely the guy who's opinion we should trust on financial deals.
in general I agree but he’s basically echoing Bessent. Don’t love tariffs but I do think the main intent is drive down 10 year to roll 10 trillion in treasuries at a lower rate. The numbers are material.
I would argue stock market is still a little rich even now. Latest SPX earnings yield is still lower than 10 year. You aren’t getting paid enough to take on risk and it’s been that way for a while.
I hope it's someone we don't know. Otherwise feels kinda trite like everything cycles through that ER. I think it's a better theme if we see that sometimes really random terrible shit happens and people have to find a way through it.
Helluva show and I don't really like hospital dramas. Can't imagine the staging it takes to shoot all that.
Our fans want us to hire Pitino or Self circa 1995. For every one of those there are 20 flameouts that schools reached for. Texas will do enough in NIL to put a Sweet Sixteen caliber team on floor most years. Personally I’m looking forward to some semblance of a clue on offense. Should at least expect that. I’m pretty gruntled honestly.
Tariffs are getting headlines but the elephant in the room is the need to refinance $10 trillion in treasuries in next 12 months. The administration wants to drive interest rates as low as possible and the stock market is acceptable collateral damage in short run. Got to drop inflation and/or cause a flight to safety to drop those yields. If Congress could stop spending 3 trillion a year more than we make that would be really neat too.
At this point pretty good argument stocks still too rich when SPX earnings yield is even with 10 year. Something has to give here. Sure wouldn’t make any rich bets either way right now.
Eh, this is a fun show. It's set in a world most Texans know a little bit and nobody in their right mind would ever set something in a god forsaken shithole like Midland and environs. BBT makes it.
Im going to get irritated when Hamms character croaks and Demi Moore becomes the smartest person in the history of the oil patch with zero experience. They aren't paying her that money to mope around in a hospital room. Think Beth Dutton Redux.
Fuck it I will still watch because look what else is out there. Five more shows about the Mendendez Brothers?
