Justin Wells of IT says he heard the staff doesn’t have confidence in a Baker successfully spinning inside to a guard. He’d likely be a swing tackle if we brought in a plus starter at tackle. That’s hard to believe.
Is this Texas freeing up more capital for critical IOL transfer players or did Flood fuck up that bad with his evals? Most attrition at any position on the team.
I figure this is a cheap depth pickup to replace Bo, but it still pushes me towards apathy. You olds are lucky you got to live almost your entire lives with a sane version of college football. I’m not even in my 30s, what am I to do?
Biles & Louis have been the best LB Duo in CFB the past couple seasons. I figured both would go pro. Biles was my early Atkinson comp, both will probably play around 225LB next season. Rangy aggressive sideline to sideline guys.
North Texas’s other RB hit the portal too. Ashton Gray. Redshirt Freshman 210LB back with a ton of burst and good vision. I’d take Baugh and Gray for a reasonable price.
I think the dramatic increase in transfer starter snaps for Texas in 2026 has more to do with staff misevaluations and recruiting missies than it does NIL/CFB Roster Management. This is what failure looks like. Lots of turnover and patching of issues. A player like Tre leaving does leave a bad taste in your mouth though. What a dog. Absolute nails. Legendary Longhorn, but he also has to maximize his opportunities.
Are these guys we actually want though? I see Gibson and Baxter are #2 and #3 at RB. A lot of these guys seem pretty light in the trousers. My USC buddies say Mataoi Tagoa’i is a dawg, but he’d be just another inexperienced body.
I’m assuming we have to spend real money at LB now. Any potential targets on the radar? Ty Smith is developing nicely, but coming into the season with him as your most experienced LB is not ideal. I don’t think you want Spence moving to ILB, that’s a downgrade from Lefau on the inside. It’s also not a great room for a guy like Atkinson to enter right now. Freshman Hill was able to join a veteran group with leaders like Ford and carve out a niche role. Atkinson might play around 220lbs next fall, you can’t expect him to start. That’s a similar dynamic to Malik’s first year as a Longhorn. Yet I think Malik was more Ant Hill than Atkinson.
I can only think of the Arkansas game. Where he was out of a gap and the RB gashed us up the gut. He was playing besides Trey Moore though, it seemed like he didn’t trust him fully to run fit and bounced inside.
One thing I noticed watching College Football this year was an absurd amount of gap busts and huge RB runs. You never really seen that on Texas defensive tape. Ant and Liona were rarely out of position. Missed tackle here or there? Yeah. I’d take that over a 50 yard touchdown run though. Those two were apart of some nasty Texas rush defenses.
Lefau was a tackling machine. The Florida and Georgia tape wasn’t his best work. You could say that about the entire defense though. He was one of the best players on the field vs Ohio State & Aggy.
I’ve disagreed with this take for years. Coach Moore’s target is objectively better, yes. When you’re at the Fiesta Bowl, you indulge in a Latina with a fat ass. It’s like baseball and chili dogs.
Sark has already showed he’s a terrible matchup for Martindale. He is rigid in his defensive approach, so many clear rules Sark can manipulate. The Michigan game made Quinn look like a first round pick.
