read last night that waters has completely re-recorded dark side of the moon. changed up the arrangements and put spoken word bullshit over all the instrumental parts.
i read about that not long ago, didn't know that was the origin of the "katy lied" stickers around terlingua. thought it was just a fellow steely dan fan spreading the word.
why has pinthouse burnet not had man-o-war for the last 3 months? also, flourescent snapper tastes like spray paint. definitely the worst pinthouse ipa i've had.
friday night i ended up seeing a band at a place called the pershing at 5th and pedernales. it's some sort of private club but i guess they're hurting for revenue and are having public concerts. it was supposed to be $15 but there was no door guy so we just walked in. ended up wandering around the place and finding an arcade and a private bar with a dj spinning some lounge music...they immediately knew we weren't members and sent us back to the public area. none of the people in the room where the band was playing seemed to care about the band...mostly people sitting on couches and looking uninterested. weird place.
still amazed how many people have never heard of television, even people who are pretty into music. marquee moon is one of my go to recommendations when people are looking for something interesting.
satuday is excellent, rest of the days don't do much for me. after being forced to sit through yves tumor opening for NIN 3 times i hope to never see them again.
anyone been to the chinati hot springs out west of presidio? have always been curious but wasn't sure if it's worth a stay. would like to combine that with pinto canyon road which has also been on my list for a while.
senior year of HS, went to billy bob's in ft worth to see jerry jeff walker. drinking beers in the parking lot before the show when a security guard pulls up in a golf cart and tells us to get the hell out of there. it was time for the concert anyway so we toss our beers in the truck and head towards the entrance...that's when ft worth PD pulls up behind us. there was only one dude who was still holding a beer...he happened to be the only one of us who wasn't 18 at the time. the concert was 18+ so he had borrowed an ID from a guy in our class who looked reasonably like him, and that's the ID he gave to the cops and the one they booked the MIP on. everyone else was given a warning. they show up on the court date to explain what happened, the cop didn't show up and the case was dropped.
find an artist you like who will be at sxsw and see what label they're on, check out the other bands on that label. the label will have a free day show somewhere and you'll probably like some of the other bands.
stopped by roughhouse brewing outside of san marcos on sunday. nice facility and grounds, kind of like a mini jester king. saisons stood out, everything else was average to good. definitely worth a stop.
