  1. I had huge sleep issues related to alcoholism and anxiety that I used melatonin to help deal with (which may have been more of a placebo than anything, I don’t know). That went away after having kids and being truly exhausted for long enough that I no longer experienced anxiety when trying to sleep. At any rate, I scanned the article waiting for the point where they addressed the potential that people who are prescribed *any* kind of long term problem management drug are more likely to experience heart failure than people who are not prescribed drugs to manage problems. Didn’t see it, curious if they accounted for that in some way.

I didn’t mean to imply that with what I wrote. But

I’ve made effective use of vinegar in my weight loss journey by boiling it with roasted peppers, blending it into a smooth liquid, and then making a regular daily practice of applying it liberally to increase the palatability of a diet rich in protein but comparatively low in calories.
  4. If I value this at my hourly rate, it may wind up being the most expensive item in the thread. Hoping I can wear it once before it warms back up
  5. 3 isn’t enough for a “top” because you have to have the wire, sopranos, band of brothers, and curb at the very least. I think Sopranos is a clear #1 for a number of reasons including cultural impact and what it did for the medium, The Wire is then right there because it is the greatest tv drama ever, and then after that is debatable. Deadwood is up there. Was 6 Feet Under hbo? The Leftovers is underrated. Despite the ending, Game of Thrones was a whole era. I love those little hbo docs that stick with you. This is one I think about way too much also, life of crime
  6. Well the president fucks children and the First Lady is a sex worker.
  7. I was really digging this little chord riff I was coming up with the other night and then I realized it was just King of Oklahoma
  8. I mean this is…. obviously the goat? Identify the talking head…
  9. man it sucks how much of an afterthought it is to be a person who mostly doesn't want to game online. we couldn't have gotten the ballad of fat maude or some underling story for the main bad guy or something with a couple more guns and a car where i can drive around and shoot'em up without a 12 year old calling me the n word online?

Now George HW was a president who knew how to collapse in his chair like a war hero. slightly on topic, we don’t give our kids a whole bunch of sugar. We don’t not let them have treats or whatever on occasion but we don’t keep juice in the house and we eat home prepared food and it’s not cookies and desserts and shit every single day. It is bananas how much the change in their behavior is evident around sugar holidays like Halloween.
  11. In other small NC election news, BJ Barham the singer of the band American Aquarium was unsuccessful in his bid for the Wendell board of commissioners
  12. bet she RUINS it
  13. You ever just click order real fast before you can change your mind?
  14. I’m not saying I respect it but it’s as close as I come to doing that
  15. First thing I do when I come downstairs in the morning is stick the pan on the burner on about medium heat. Pack backpacks, lunch, pour coffee, slice bananas, prepare french toast, etc before I put a half tbsp of butter on the pan where it melts quickly and bubbles gently. Drop the eggs or whatever it is in and let it sit for a minute before fucking with it. I do like cooking on the comal because low sides makes it easy to work with the spatula I think most decent quality nonstick pans are comparable and none of them last for more than a couple of years. Don’t break the bank on them and replace them when they’re old or your wife superheats them empty.
  16. If a plane crashes in the middle of a forest and nobody is listening to Ana smartly explaining what the problem is not related to, will terminally offline voters connect it with the government shutdown that is already impacting their daily lives?
  17. Do you think this is an indictment against pedophile rapists and the entire child sex trafficking ring in general, or are voters simply upset that under this GOP government they are now feeding their children leaves (and what about when winter comes)?
  18. 2horn live cam An 18 wheeler full of high school band instruments getting pancaked by a locomotive is such incredible I Think You Should Leave material.
  19. I am kinda shocked. I really thought the maga folks were going to grab those board seats. But even our little town, clean sweep.
  20. Alright, here's my micro somewhat interesting local race Wake Forest, NC - erstwhile small town (and once but no longer home to the university, who moved out in the 50s and left the campus to the Southeast Baptist Seminary) and now rapidly growing suburb of Raleigh. Mayor Vivian Jones has been mayor since 1999 when the town was probably 1/4 the size it is now. I'm not sure what her politics are exactly, but she's very old guard anti change and caused a bit of a kerfuffle when rescinded the town proclamation of Pride Month. There is an organization that promotes LGBTQ pride/safety/etc which is nice in what could easily be described as the Round Rock of Raleigh. Apparently, the seminary pressured Jones to rescind the proclamation, which she did, and managed to piss everyone off in the process. https://indyweek.com/newsletter/seminary-leaders-urged-wake-forest-mayor-to-drop-pride-month-proclamation/ Ben Clapsaddle is an ex military democrat who... I don't know that much, but he seems solid, he's the dem candidate. Meanwhile in the board of commissioners, Pam Jones and Thomas Dement are running together, they have some outside money and a lot of signs that look well designed and don't try to tell the story that is made clear by their respective haircuts Sliwinski (R) and Shackleford (D) are both incumbents, I'm not sure who Zavala is really but Haseeb Fatmi is a progressive. https://er.ncsbe.gov/?election_dt=11/04/2025&county_id=92&office=ALL&contest=920022 https://er.ncsbe.gov/?election_dt=11/04/2025&county_id=92&office=ALL&contest=920023 Things are looking good for Clapsaddle and the two D commisioners right now, but very early.
