Makes me wonder if we waited to announce it because we were worried it would drive up the cost of a trade for a catcher. If that's the case, I wonder if they are doing something similar with Brantley.
Happ would be good, but I don't know that I would be comfortable with what we would have to give up. I think Reynolds would cost more than we are willing to pay. After those two, there isn't much that seems like a clear upgrade over what we have. I read an article that mentioned Garcia from the Rangers. If the price was right, I'd probably go with that.
Worked at the Black Eyed Pea near Town and Country mall in Houston for a few months when I was 19. Did a bunch of whippets in the walk-in at the beginning of a shift. A coworker went in a little while later and all of the whip cream from those cans had leaked out of the cans and gotten everywhere. I didn't fess up, but I did help with the cleanup.
Perhaps most importantly, we get rid of Odorizzi's vesting contract for next season. Smith has a team option with a cheap buyout for next season. If he sucks, he won't be wont he playoff roster just like Odo wouldn't have been. But, unlike Odo, we can decline his option and hopefully give that money to JV instead.
Not sure about Murray's Rule 5 eligibility. If he's not eligible after this season, this looks like an even swap.
Picked him after he was DFA'd last season. Turned him into Trey Mancini. Not bad.
