Interesting. I wouldn't rank SP as a high-priority for the deadline. I'd rather see us go after Mancini and Benintendi, but adding Castillo to our rotation would make us better.
His contract runs through 2023, so it would provide some insurance against JV declining his player option for next season and going after a more lucrative contract.
Listening to the first Joe Pickett book, Open Season, now. I am enjoying it so far. I started to watch the first episode of the series yesterday, but it became clear about half way through the first episode that it was moving beyond what I have gotten through in the book, and I'd rather get the book version first.
I'm jealous and very curious to get your thoughts on it. I don't know anyone who has read the books in chronological order without having read Lonesome Dove or seen the mini series first.
I read Streets of Laredo a while back. It was fine, but paled in comparison to Lonesome Dove. I have Dead Man's Walk in my TBR pile. I hope it's better.
This is the correct approach. I've been in favor of going after Mancini for a while now. Given Brantley's injury, I think Beninendi makes a lot of sense too.
