Living my best birthday life in Zermatt for a big bday. Thanks to those on last years thread that recommended. Everything about this place is fantastic.
The town is a bit sleepy after hours. We leaned into happy hours by the village base (the far one) where’s there’s bars and restaurants but mostly relaxed with cards by the fire at condo. Goat Soup & Whiskey Tavern was touristy solid. The bus system and parking leaves a lot to be desired, so get head around your plans there. Fun skiing, great family mountain.
Put me in the pro Spotify camp. Not sure how having a giant portion of the music from planet earth available right there on your phone can suck. I keep Shazam as bottom right app on my phone to quickly nab random songs I hear on radio, movies, parties, etc and dig that it integrates straight to a dedicated Spotify list for easy relistening. And I’ll happily pay $10 a month for Sirius to avoid commercials when in the car. I spin between XMU 35 down to Beatles at like 17. Such a diverse span in between. Plus the comedy and live sports. The best of what I find via digital tees up select vinyl for what I really want to own.
Wow, really? Not sure what era you refer to, but I graduated from the business school in 96 and to think close-in houses were plentiful for the $30k contingent is laughable.
I graduated in 96 and everyone bitched THEN about how bad it had become. Have since lived in midwest and west coast with a 15 year DFW pit stop. Moved back here in 2020 and it’s by far the best city I’ve lived in. I agree the real estate is spendy, but to go boating on lake austin, then downtown for dinner / drinks, jog the next morning at zilker and catch the horns at DKR in a given weekend is hard to match. Curious what cities all the haters prefer ?
I’m brand new to collecting and am curious how to best work through what can be overwhelming Discogs options for a given album. I’m looking for a copy of Also Sprach Zarathustra / 2001 Theme and the options are amplified because so many orchestras have performed it. Sifting through, many were replicated from CD which I understand defeats the purpose of vinyl. The Discog filters are not real helpful here, so it’s hunting and pecking just part of the fun? I’ve experienced this when looking for for everything from live jazz to best live Jane’s Addiction concert versions on Discogs, Amazon, etc. TLDR - is there a way to search for the “best” vinyl to weed out stuff sourced from CD or other substandard options?
I’m shocked that WSP sold out most nights of this austin run. Not ready to go stubhub route but if anyone here winds up with extra for first or last night, lmk.
