The biggest issues are that refineries declined not to use AI in the future in place of union employees, and several refineries are actively trying to gut the union maintenance crews in order to replace them contractors. Then you get into what BP is doing at their 445k BPD refinery in Whiting, IN. Refinery workers, part of USW, are negotiating a new contract with Marathon. So far the tactic seems to be to show us a really shitty new contract that enables them to eventually cut a lot of union jobs and just not negotiate further. Good times.
