Wife and I hit up the Brewer's Table last night for VDay on East 5th and enjoyed it pretty well. Lagercentric but their beer was pretty decent. Nice space outside as well with a bar out there.
I'm starting Parkland by Dave Cullen, who wrote a fantastic book on Columbine. Gotta love multiple school shootings being written about by the same journalist/author but here we are.
Gained like 15 lbs over the winter and need to get back into a consistent running schedule. Hoping to run the Outlaw Half in Luckenbach this April and see how that goes and then take the summer to burn the fat and get faster.
Also did anyone hear about what happened to the beer guy at Haymaker? Evidently he died tragically last weekend leaving a fiancee behind. I haven't heard how he died.
I agree with your assessment of Hopslam. I didn't have it until last year when Texas finally got it and I was way underwhelmed. Two Hearted is still god though imo but there is really so much better and cheaper to buy.
I thoroughly am enjoying it. Shout out to bro from Halt and Catch Fire as grieving working class drinking husband and father of the deceased. I love the pacing.
Going to Birmingham to visit the wife's family or what's left of them. Her grandma is a sweet old southern well-to-do lady but is getting older, can't hear very well and is more and more anxious about everyone staying in her house. The SiL and MiL are both drunks and the wife can't really stand them much anymore. I actually love visiting Birmingham. Great beer and food scene. Friendly people. There's always a gigantic drunken meltdown involving either the MiL or SiL or both and my wife (who barely drinks because of them). So I have that inevitably to look forward to. Her sister also held grudges from their childhood against her until I sat down and talked to her about it at length. People are just fucking ridiculous. Her mom's the worst too. The absolute worst. I will be drinking heavily all week. Luckily we are going to NOLA to meet her best friend right before New Year's. Will be worth the wait.
I went with the Forerunner 235 and I love it. I usually run with my dogs and carry a waist leash that has a pouch for my phone so I don't need the music feature yet. It's so much more accurate for what I need than Apple Watch. So glad I switched now that I want to be a more consistent and better runner.
In any order aka I really really dug the girls this year.
